Very sad. But if it folds, same as if Bolton do, it’s absolutely the right thing in the circumstances. If one or both go under, I just hope it sends at least a ripple of prudence through some clubs.
while I do feel sorry for the fans, and the staff (box office, club shop, groundsmen etc etc) I feel that this example is what was needed to maybe make clubs think about running the clubs properly.... Like we do.
Steve Dale and Ken Anderson are going to end up swinging from lampposts in Bury and Bolton respectively at this rate...
I think that's it for Bury FC, far too late to do anything about it now. This goes back to Stewart Day and David Flitcroft agreeing to pay huge wages to average players when they were in L2. They've then ended up with Steve Dale buying the club for £1, however, he doesn't have a pot to pi*s in. The EFL need to seriously look at their processes for approving owners and the 'fit and proper person' test because something clearly isn't right when these sorts of people are allowed to run football clubs. I really wish Bolton would fold (much rather them than Bury) but the EFL won't let two clubs go from that league. They will do everything they can to help Bolton now.
If only that were true . There’s no rules stopping unscrupulous businessmen buying clubs and ripping the heart and soul out of it . Only punishments if they do . Some sort of legislation as a special case for football clubs needs to be put in place where business men are held and seen to be held responsible for their actions . I know it’s controversial and grey areas etc etc but community based clubs like Bury etc need protecting from venture capitalists Although what’s happened at Salford isn’t s good example.
Bury just released a statement urging fans not to gain access to the stadium. Wouldn't surprise me if a fair few were going down Gigg Lane with a noose for that piece of work Dale.
What an emotional rollercoaster for the fans, both teams seemed to have been 'saved' over the weekend for both not going through. And 400 Bury fans have been cleaning the stadium today in preparation for Saturdays fixture which was set to go ahead. Waiting on that EFL statement, probably be released around 6 or 7pm
