Not sure whether they have a restricted view but on iFollow they keep getting stuff wrong like the injury Moore 'follow through' after kicking the ball clearly caught the Barnsley player (can't remember who and it was nothing malicious) - replay confirmedit although they probably don't have the benefit of that. Matt thought he might have been hit by the ball and couldn't not see how he was hurt. Quite a few other things they seem to have got wrong. Bad day at the office methinks.

My ongoing issue with the ifollow commentary is that they struggle to contextualise the game. So often it feels like nothing is happening and then without any build up a goal has gone in.

Yeah I made a few mistakes and I hold my hands up. Every radio commentator does though, as keeping up with a high octane game and describing every single detail is impossible - some people delight in highlighting the inevitable (but in my opinion) rare errors though, for some reason.
Remember I am 150 to 200 yards away, with the benefit of no monitors or replays!

Apologies, Stat wise - I couldn't read my own writing today, for some reason and my mouth worked before my brain a couple of times.

A few things have happened in my life recently that has made me realise that football is insignificant in comparison; although I always try to enhance the match day experience for listeners and viewers to the best of my ability.
Some people need to realise that it is RADIO and not TV comms (where you have more time to think and digest the action) and that although it's not a physically grueling job, it isn't an easy task. I challenge anyone who thinks they could do it and spot every incident immediately to have a go and maybe become my successor.

I've been let loose behind the mic at football grounds for twenty odd years, so I must be doing something right.

Cheers and have a great international break everyone!

I think you do a great job.
With the advent of the extra cameras etc and live streaming the fans expect you are watching what they’re watching.
But I know you don’t have all the extra cameras and replays etc.
You’re trying to do radio comms which goes over the stream that many are illegally watching.
Keep up the good work and hats off to the media powers at the club for giving young interns such an opportunity.

Great commentary as always Matt. I too was shouting at my phone when you made the odd error. But I fully understand how difficult it must be. I used to hate it when you made every half chance to the opposition seem like a massive threat and then seem less excitable when we had a half chance. However, as a fellow fan I can completely understand those emotions, as I'm terrified whenever the opposition get anywhere near our box! And that's what makes your commentary so relatable. You are the voice of Barnsley for me mate.

Not watched or listened today. But never had any complaints. To be honest don’t really take much notice what is said as long as it’s describing play and in sync (when watching). Deffo wouldn’t have noticed if stats were wrong or let it bother me if they were

I can back up that it's not easy! To keep talking, avoid pauses, be articulate and not make a single error is tough. You don't have time to think about what you're going to say next, like I imagine they do on TV. It's literally autopilot.

Every time I listen to 5Live, TalkSport etc they make errors and talk some nonsense, and they're paid professionals that are fully trained etc. Some of the Sky Sports News presenters make some enormous bumbling mistakes.

Keep up the good work Matt!

I think your enthusiasm and the fact you are a BFC 'fan' and get just as nervous as we do when the opposition have half chances is your USP but agree with a previous comment that sometimes comments on individual incidents it comes across as a bit misrepresentative for 'listeners only' of what we have seen occur.

I appreciate that watching on iFollow, camera shots are partially zoomed in on the area of the pitch where the action is. That is a double edged sword as we see more individual incidents but miss the view of the whole pitch that you see when sitting in the stands. That makes your comments about tactical changes in players positions during the game especially helpful.
Finally, and I may be wide of the mark here, and no disrespect to the intern yesterday, but I am sure you wre under more pressure when co-commentating with someone so inexperienced compared to when you have an ex-red or pro player along side you. She seems fairly knowledgeable but often needed prompting to chip in with a comment or summary. Also fell into the 'stating the bleeding obvious' trap a number of times rather than making an inciteful comment. 'She is young but she will learn' I am sure.
I love those 'Colemanballs' type comments like the classic " Juantorena opens his legs and shows his class" from the Olympics many years ago.

Perhaps you could work some of those in to your commentary as sometimes we need cheering up when things aren't going so well?;)

You are the eyes and ears for me and many more Matt and appreciate it.
I know it must be hard, especially not having a regular sidekick, you and goody worked well and were a proper double act.
My comments were very tongue in cheek and I am not going to switch off because you may have got a stat wrong.
Please keep going, we would be lost without you.
