They were singing his praises when he first took over last season. Must say it doesn't look very good for him now. Next two games Kilmarnock away and Heart of Midlothian at home could be crucial. https://www.hibeesbounce.com/threads/hibernian-get-rid.129481/
You are right. But you have to remember that many posters on here have the memory span of a goldfish, These posters have all on to remember what type of pie they ate with their chips at dinner time.
We're not all Hecky haters on this thread, he gave us a brilliant promotion season, two great days out and a great season back in the champs.
Spot on. I genuinely don't get the animosity, from some, towards Hecky. On balance, when circumstances are taken into account, I think he did a good job here. I didn't blame him for leaving and I certainly don't take any joy from seeing him struggle at another club. It seems some people either have short memories or can't get over him leaving us for Leeds.
If someone says they don't like him because he left for Leeds and they would like to see him struggle, then that's one thing. Its petty, but I can at least understand the thinking. Its the way people change the view of players and in this case a coach, when they leave I don't get. Our top scorer last season is apparently rubbish now he plays for another team. Brentford have dropped Pinnock so maybe he wasn't that good? I was angry Hecky went to Leeds, but not at him. At the sad fact that we can't compete with Leeds.
I was a big supporter of hecky during his time at Barnsley and would have been pleased to see him stay But the manner of his departure left a sour taste in my mouth. The subsequent revelation that he would have jumped ship for the next club that came along I find personally quite insulting given the support he was given during his time at oakwell.
exactly, I totally appreciate the time he had with us, although he did become a non entity for me the way he moved, so no feelings either way now. The OP was just to to show how quickly things changed for him up there. Oh and Nudger, a nice Cornish pasty with a nice bit of gravy!
He’s a poor manager that has consistently found out whenever he’s been asked to do a managers job, rather than keeping systems in place in a team that could manage itself. Facts don’t lie.
Absolutely true. To me speaks of the difference between ‘coach’ and ‘manager’. Think Flicker fell in this category too.
Good grief! Hecky got all the plaudits for the promotion season didn't he? He was also a hero the following season when we had a great first half, particularly away from home. Some fans were even singing his name after a year of poor results. Also, I don't think people have a downer on him simply for going to Leeds. Most couldn't believe they would want him, given his record at the time. Some were even relieved he'd gone. People say he would have kept us up. Based on what? His record over the whole 12 months didn't suggest anything of the sort. Hecky inherited a fantastic side that had been underachieving and had just started going through the gears when it was handed to him. Let's not make him some kind of victim. He's been a very lucky man and has had plenty of praise whilst at Oakwell, both as player and manager.
Got to agree and he gets far too much credit for the jpt we were already in the final ffs he just had to beat a league 2 side. He did do a great job at leeds though took them over on the brink of the play offs one of the most expensive squads in the league and managed 2 wins one against us, I was gutted they got shut. Wish him the best though he seems like a nice enough bloke j just wouldn't want him back here as head coach/manager.
Said many times, I suspected he was probably a very good coach, who was capable of getting the best out of people. But perhaps not capable of building his own team. Add into that there’s a big difference to being the players mate( coach whilst LJ was here) and being a boss.
If he fails up there when all he has to do is guide Hibs to third then that's him done. Built his own squad by all accounts. Was getting lauded initially but soon gone sour and apparently owing to his mouth where he's talked down the club and had pops at the fanbase. I liked him as an average but grafting player who was one of us. He impressed as Head Coach for a year too. Went awry very badly in latter 2017 when as he's admitted he stopped caring. Anything i've read and heard since departing hasn't made him any more likeable. I'll remember him for the good times but I moved on when he did.
