first game of the season the atmosphere was electric, ever since we have been out done. To say it was a Yorkshire Derby the atmosphere was rubbish. The East stand is more like waking the dead
Charge £36(£38 on the day) per ticket, play the game on a Sunday lunch time and leave vast swathes of a supposedly sold out stand empty and the atmosphere is going to suffer.
Empty seats. I agree about the **** kick off time but the atmosphere seemed fine from where I was sat in the Ponte.
The North Stand holds 6,200. We sold them 4,400 tickets. I'm not sure the precise definition of a vast swathe but I thought 30% of an area would qualify.
Looked more in there than that to me but you may well be right. Still 4000 away fans should be more than enough to create atmosphere
On the video of the trouble in the corner of the East Stand Lower - the club seems to have withheld tickets for that section of the ground as well.
Absolutely sick of hearing how bad the East Stand is. From the East Stand you can see the Ponty End is singing but can hardly hear it. Yet it’s the fault of people in the East Stand who are generally older or sitting in families? The stadium acoustics are awful. When the Ponty Enders declare how brilliant the atmosphere is, we can barely hear it in the family stand. ... and by the way it’s not unusual for the family stand to start a chant or two.
I used to sit in the East stand, near the centre and could always hear the Ponty end. Personally I think people go on too much about atmosphere.
Well I go for the match, not the necessary atmosphere. The atmosphere is what it is, is generated in the main via the product on the pitch and today it was cracking.
Not really. It’s just lazy to blame people who generally speaking, deliberately sit in the part of the ground away from where the noise is generated.
There are 3 sides of the ground for home fans. And if you can’t hear it, help out. Don’t criticise those of us trying to support the team.
The Ponty is ****. The ‘lads’ in there spend more time being angry at each other and stewards than focused on creating an atmosphere. The Ponty is a joke.
Not sure if that’s directed at me, but what i was saying is that the East Stand does contribute... it’s just that the people in the Ponty don’t hear it.
