what an absolute crock of *****. In front of me in the East Lower there was about 30 or so Leeds fans, a number of which contributed to the shenanigans at full time when they started to find a pair. How did they manage to get tickets to this normally closed section of the ground. According to the Leeds fans with me in the lounge who were pally with the large mob of Leeds, they had no issues buying the tickets and no one questioned who they were.
I’ve seen quite a few people on social media saying they got tickets from reds fans buying them for their mates. No point in the security measures if Barnsley fans are just going to buy the tickets for them anyway.
Happens every time we play them, the 5.30 kick off when conor scored some got found out in ponty and ESL nearest ponty end someone noticed they stayed seated after Bradshaws equaliser to make it 1-1 and trouble erupted. And the scenes that have been shared all over social media will make more leeds fans try get tickets in home ends in future fixtures.
the problem here is that some of them have booked before, so now they are on the system and registered so to speak. id assume that if we checked everyone's booking history there would be a very small minority who rather strangely only came to 1 Barnsley match a season.... home to Leeds!
Wouldn’t be surprised if a number of Barnsley fans that only make 1 game a season choose Leeds is the problem.
I don’t have a problem with Leeds fans in home ends if they don’t cause trouble . Remember fans on ours sitting in home ends last season when we sold out away allocations.
Doesn’t have to be them causing the trouble for it to erupt if a section of our fans gets wind. Sort of sad given the bonhomie of fan integration in other sports but sadly lots of football fans are incapable of perspective and will inevitably get violent given the opportunity.
Pretty sure some lads near us in the West Lower were Leeds fans but they didn't cause any trouble whatsoever so had no problem.
probably the group of about 6 i saw trying to get into the ponty and looking quizzically at their tickets when refused entry pointed around to the west stand
I saw a conversation between two of my Facebook friends, a Barnsley fan who doesn't go any more and a Leeds fan (who used to be a Barnsley fan). The Barnsley fan was selling a ticket for a mate and replied "Not yet" when the Leeds fan asked if it had gone. The conversation no doubt continued offline.
We had a spare ticket in prem because my mates wife never attended. It was used by Arsenal, Everton, Wednesday fans with no bother. During the Arsenal game some blokes behind us shouted "go on Dennis" when Bergkamp got the ball. They both had local accents and those behind us made it very uncomfortable for them. They left at half time and didn't return. If people are sensible I don't mind where they sit.
I sat with a Leeds supporting mate in the East Stand Upper - he used another mate's season ticket who couldn't make it. It was fine because he's not a ***** and the people who sit around us aren't pricks.
Doesn't matter if the people around you are pricks if they're home fans in the home end because that's where they are allocated to be. Can you guess where the away fans should've been sat? Half the problems wouldn't have been caused if there were no away fans in the home end.
