You've all been sold the dummy.. Real question should be is what they are trying to keep off the front page and head line news followed by the question.. why arent they publishing... Whilst I feel sorry for stokes and his family can't you see it happens all the time... Boris shut down parliament last week.. He got accused of lying to the queen... That took her son of the front page sun's headline.. 125mph was lead story.. Unfortunately stokes story is to deflect heat off Boris... Andrews story lost in the midst of time... Elite looking after their own... Come on guys stop smelling the bullish 1t and going mmmm that's nice... Realise what they are doing...
It's a depressing thought that it is the most read 'newspaper' in the country. Speaks volumes for the intellect of a large percentage of the population.
That is total ******, The Sun habitually outrages and the depths it will go to has no limits. Unless I’m mistaken, The Guardian took their Story down and apologised. It is not known for either the frequency, or the outlandish depths of storylines (almost said reporting there) the Sun publishes. You’re sounding like a Tory Politician by commenting on something but trying to put everything else in the same category
We’re currently in a path where as a whole the country is trying to clamp down on cyber bullies and the utter scum some folk are using twitter and other social media platforms to write whatever they like to people with no regard for their feelings. And then this lot are allowed to print things like this, and have previous got writing a lot worse. We need to put a stop to this horrendous journalism and keep it out of the public eye before we can attempt to change the behaviours of knuckle draggers on social media.
I’ve just also heard the news story on bbc radio, in fairness to the bbc they didn’t mention the story but just read out the statement from Ben Stokes. They did mention the paper responsible however, what I didn’t know though is that the paper earlier in the week forced Thomas to come out public with his HIV otherwise they were going to print a story. They’re truly horrible. But I feel the sun will see this as victory, they’ve hit the head lines they wanted and I fear this will only go in their favour. It’s not for me but a vast amount of this nation want to hear stories of people like this one. It’s a talking point. Disgusts me it really does.
I haven't bought any type of newspaper for years but I thought this kind of crap had largely reduced after Leveson and the end of the News of the World. Clearly I was wrong.
It is a hideous newspaper. I remember a headline "Miners, you scum". I would have thought that would be enough for the newspaper to die a death in mining communities like Barnsley but sadly it is probably the most popular. That reflects badly on our town - at least the people of Liverpool have outlawed it for their headlines following Hillsborough.
Until I read this forum this morning I knew nothing of what the Sun had printed. (And I'm not having a pop at the OP.) Peversley the more we criticise/condemn an article the more publicity we give it.
I’m not sure mate I don’t recall anything. But it really wouldn’t surprise me. It’s got to the point where if I see any reference to a news article with the sun in I don’t entertain it one bit. However this stokes story has been seen by nearly everyone. Infact these click bait stories on social media you’d probably be able to guess which paper the article is from without even clicking on it. That’s how predictable our nations news companies are.
Totally agree. I stopped buying newspapers a few years ago now but before that I wouldn't have wiped my arse on The Sun. The Guardian, while not sharing my political views, are considered to be a quality newspaper however they manage to scrape the bottom of the vile barrel yesterday. They quite rightly changed the editorial and apologised. It seems they are also investigating how the editorial made it to press. I wonder if The Sun will take the same action - I won't hold my breath. My point is that I don't expect better from The Sun but I do from newspapers such as The Guardian however it seems all of them are capable of printing poison so I don't entertain them at all.
Wonder if it was the Scum who threatened to out Gareth Thomas for having HIV? Wouldn't put it passed them, to feel disappointed that because Gareth went public they'd got another gutter story to fall back on. The Scum, Nazi Mail and Torygraph need closing down. No impartiality, even the Mirror runs negative stories about Labour. Those crap rags are our versions of Fox news. Fox news is banned in this country for a reason.
I think someone before you suggested they had blackmailed him. I don't have any issue with papers being pro-Tory or Labour, that is up to them but behaving like this with Stokes and others before this is disgusting. Whilst I agree with @Red-Taff. that the Streisand Effect gives them publicity, I think the outcry that this will have provoked will be worth it. I can't see this increasing circulation numbers in the long term, but it may make people think again.
The whole country should follow Liverpool’s lead and just boycott the thing. It’s not even fit to be used as bog paper. Even by its own gutter standards this was appalling. But as said elsewhere good distraction from the disaster that is Boris
The Daily Star one was better today. She's a Barnsley lass. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...uit-of-misery-editor-s-comment-1-10000883/amp Good read and nice to see someone involved in journalism having a go at the story.
