to a lot of the comments on here, a skim through the Forest forums showed that many of them really rate us and feel we are only a striker away from being a good side and think we will be nowhere near the bottom as the season progresses
Leeds fans said the same. Wonder how many fanbases will keep saying this before we actually start picking up results though?
Leeds and forest have spent tens of millions more than us, we have one recognised striker I don't think that is a coincidence.
Sadly we will always be one striker, or maybe several, away from being ok. That's the world BFC live in. That's what we supporters buy into.
Being one striker away though is a million miles. Scoring goals is everything in football and we don’t score anywhere near enough, so the situation looks grim...
Easy to be complimentary when you're feeling good because your team has just won. A bit more difficult when your team has lost. Not saying that means we were poor, but credit from fans of teams that have been beaten us is not an indication that we're any good. Doesn't mean we're a bad side either, it's just not a very good way of judging. Getting credit from fans of teams we've beaten means we're a good side.
Seasons been going two month and they're the only sample we have! I think that is probably the better indicator.
Not necessarily, when we've been beaten in the past there have been many occasions when other fans said we have been poor, they should have won by more etc
Yes, it can go that way too, and again I don't think that's a very good indication. They've seen us once and it could just be an off day. I think Barnsley fans are the best judge of our team. I don't claim to have the consensus opinion but I've read and heard a lot of thoughts that I agree with along the lines of: we've got an honest bunch of hard working you pros, not without talent, but the lack of experience is going to make it a very difficult season.
Funnily enough just been on the train with a bunch of their fans and they were very complimentary towards us
Chaplin is making a career out of being a bench warmer who doesn't score enough. Schmidt is a youngster having to adapt quickly to a different country. Stendel doesn't seem to fancy starting either of them at the moment, which is leaving Woodrow very isolated. It's so reminiscent of our striking options in the first half of the last relegation season. Bradshaw ploughed a lonely furrow with Ugbo and Thiam often unfancied.
I struggle to understand Chaplin's career. He spent most of the 2017-18 season on the bench at a League 2 club, but was bought by a League 1 team that summer. He then spent most of the 2018-19 season on the bench of a League 1 club, but was bought by a Championship club that summer. He's now on the bench at Championship club... Premier League anyone?
Sadly, there might be 24 good teams in the Championship this season but 3 still go down. There won't be a Bolton or Ipswich this season. Looking half decent isn't enough and we need goals and points. Our lack of experience doesn't help that and days like today and last Sunday feel like ones where we'd nick a point with a bit more nouse. One positive is that it's panned out the other way round to what I anticipated pre-season in that we don't look too leaky at the back but we can't score. Hopefully Wilks, Thomas and co will come good to rectify that as they've shown potential but allowing Moore to leave with no like for like replacement looks every bit as disastrous as I feared.
