How long can we give it before we start seeing similarities between the two situations? Got promoted and then had their best assets sold and replaced with young unproven players? Will Stendel go the same way with finding the club a hard place to be and wanting to accept any offer that came in for him?
Maybe. Think Stendel is in a worse position than hecky was. As hecky had better players even after his best assets were sold. After all this time me swearing at the managers etc...I don’t think managing our squad shows their qualities as they are limited from doing anything!
Pretty similar and can only end the same way. Heck I had a slightly better team but we lacked any sort of cutting edge as we do now.
I think Daniel will stick with us to the end of the season, but beyond that will probably depend upon how we approach the January transfer window. If the owners stick resolutely to the current plan then I’m convinced he will be heading back home come the end of the season irrespective of whether or not we stay up
The similarities between the 2 are staggering, that's the worrying part. I really like Daniel, and I've said it before that if he walked out of the club on Monday morning then I'd be devastated but I'd understand and I'd wish him all the best in the world.
Expect Daniel to sign a new contract just before departing - with a £1M release clause. And no-one will blame him for departing. Time to re-assess Hecky's departure?
Hecky owes us a favour as speaking. Cough florent kamberi scores In Europe. Hibs best player and a big lad , would link with Woodrow
I've said before I'd blame him and I think he will see the job through .The clubs policy was the same when he signed. He asked Pinnock to stay, offered him the captaincy etc but he didnt want to. Not Stendels or our owners fault. Did you see how Stendel lit up playing leeds and almost beating them at their own game. That's what he wants, to manage a top club playing attacking football. And quitting Barnsley prematurely wont help him achieve that.
We are a weird bunch. The players and manager are never to blame its always the club. I’m not saying blame manager or players either. I’m saying don’t blame anyone. Because what’s the big hoohah? I don’t get it. We are in the Championship after a great season that saw us gain promotion and as everyone expected we are finding it very difficult to get results. I really don’t understand the ire. We should have recruited better, I am on that 100%. But Christ the reactions on here are embarrassing.
How can could you ever blame players who aren’t used to playing at this level. Hence our results. I think the Ire is for our owners. They haven’t haven’t learnt from our previous failures.
Agreed but as a manager he was unable to persuade them to stay. Ultimately they wanted to go so nothing to be done about it. Cant really blame the manager or the owners for it.
No no no no no ......... and NO !!! Because !!! Hecky had no support from these owners - Stendel does. AND ........ because of these different circumstances surrounding the club ...... who gives a flying foook if we lose 8-nowt for the next 10 weeks. If Patrick was still in charge then under the present run of results then of course we all would be mortified. But not now ........ no, not now ....... because if it needs changing then these owners WILL change it.
Whilst I agree he’s not in charge of our finances. Cant agree surely he didn’t agree to selling players and them being replaced inadequately by players who haven’t played anywhere close to this level either. Is that Stendels fault then by your logic?
The football we played after the said managers lost players is like chaulk and cheese it was poor under hecky both similar with the lack of goals though we play some nice stuff still this season.
I think the players you refer to wanted out and got out. And we're talking about players in Davies, Lindsay and Pinnock who barely play now, and if they do - in Liam's case - very badly. Oh, and Moore who's got zero goals for Wigan.
I think all those players would be making a better fist of it if they had stayed at Barnsley. The have new team mates and different tactics to get used to.
