It's getting increasingly frustrating seeing us create then miss chances in the manner we are doing. However, I'm not throwing in the towel with these lads, nor the Head Coach and his staff. Others can do as they please. It's their choice and right to do & say as they see fit. If I can watch our team slump to the bottom of the entire football league and still back them, then getting off to a poor start in the Championship is a doddle. I still believe we'll improve and begin to move up the table. If that means being labelled a Happy Clapper (again!) without any footballing knowledge, so be it. It won't be the first, or last, time. Four years ago, I, along with others, were mocked on here for saying t we'd still follow Barnsley, even if that season resulted in relegation to Division 2 (we were bottom of Division 1 at the time). Fans with alternative, even polar opposite views, won't affect or influence me. I'll certainly continue to show respect to them, even if I disagree with their viewpoints and will not resort to personal abuse.
Says much about your fastness and stoicism, Mr BL. But should fans like you have to put up with self-inflicted adversity now that we have owners who have the wherewithal to affect the situation positively?
Doesn’t matter what League we are in I agree there. Our current plan works from a business point of view but it misses the emotional attachment that is critical to supporting a small town club. I feel very flat at the moment. Struggling to identify with any of the players who lack nothing in effort but struggle to compete in terms of ability.
I’ll be there mate no matter what league we’re in because I’m in love with our physio plus the meat and tatey pies are lovely. Those two aren’t connected.
I find it very easy to identify with young lads giving their all in a Barnsley shirt. Neither do I believe they lack ability. If that puts me in the minority on here and/or down at Oakwell, so be it.
I admire you sir, and I respect your opinion. You're always a very classy poster, and whilst I might not agree with some of your points, you've put them across in the right manner. Top man.
4th away game of the season for me and still haven't seen us score. As you say, you can't blame manager or players. The club has gone for youthful exuberance and were seeing that every week, but in isolation it's not enough. I walked back to the car with some Forest fans. They said how well we'd played and that we should be OK playing like that. Forest, Wigan and Birmingham were all there for the beating, but we're all style and no substance at the moment. We're not playing at all badly, but we're not good enough. If we were we'd score goals. I'm off to either Salford or Morecambe next Saturday for the new ground. It'll be nice for the result to be irrelevant.
I’ve been to every game home and away so far and we have only very occasionally looked like we might score. It’s dispiriting and we are not even close to being able to compete. Teams like Birmingham and Luton who are pretty weak at this level brushed us aside with ease. It’ll be a long season. If we can keep in touch and do some business in January it’s not impossible we could survive. I literally cannot identify some of our players and there’s little point getting attached as anyone good will be out the door next year
Whilstever we have Daniel Stendel as our Head Coach, I have confidence. He improved the squad of players, both individually & collectively, relegated from the Championship and I honestly believe he'll do the same with the young lads brought in this Summer.
Completely agree there. To be honest I think I just need to knock the away games on the head. They are completely deflating and depressing.
