Have been on this site a number of years and don't recall reading any abusive/insulting posts about football.

That is not the case on the political threads. There has been a lot of nasty personal attacks made on posters especially those who are 'Leavers.'

Political threads have been repeatedly hijacked by the same posters who are intent on promoting their own personal political mantra/agenda.
Basically it's a case of subtle bullying - if you support leaving-don't condemn Johnson and Trump-don't support Corbyn etc. etc. you will be personally abused.

And most worryingly of all, as we have seen, a political thread can be used to promote very extreme views with newspaper reports/articles included.
As long as those views remain on this site it can be argued that the site supports those views.

I would like to see a political threads separated from the football ones and I think the political threads should be moderated.

You could also ask the priminister of the day to misuse £130,000,000 of public funds to send a letter to each house in the country making an unsubstantiated claim about how much it would cost each household if they dared vote against the status quo

So posters on here who are Remainers, ant- Boris, anti-Trump are subtle bullies and are condoned by site admin. As for not recalling reading anything abusive/ insulting on here about football related threads, well where To start with this.

This isn’t a bulletin board for football and never has been. It’s a board for people who follow BFC to come on and discuss all sorts of things. Everything in life has links to politics so to remove such posts from here just will not work.

Wow. No insults on football related threads? Seriously? That’s actually so far off the truth it’s nearly funny.

And people who dare to have an opinion contrary to the leavers are ‘subtle bullies’.

‘Nasty, personal attacks’. From remainers, not anything untoward said by leavers then?

For a post supposedly condemning discussing politics, it doesn’t half nail your colours to the mast.

I agree. The town and it's history are interwoven, the football club is an expression of that. It's what gives us our unique identity. What has prompted this debate is the uniquely devisive subject of brexit. I'm p#ssed off a bit because remainers attack leavers by calling us racist, thick etc. I have two degrees, first in economics, second in commercial law. Every time I post some facts about the EU, it just goes quiet and kills the thread but I have to suck up endless threads from others who have fallen for the big business backed liberal elite who push propaganda about how great the EU is

Unfortunately the leavers quote facts drip fed to them by the media, brainwashing by any other name. It's not surprising they are not taken seriously as they have no clue about the workings of the EU, or the danger of relying on the fecking Tory party to have free reign to do what they want. Boris has lied and cheated his whole career but Brexit eh?

Here we go - It was only a matter of time before this thread itself turned into one of those threads that begat the question in the original post.

    Exactly why it needs binding.

    The forum has spoken.
