Then you push all of us. That's my current feeling. I want the best for DS and I don't want these owners ruining his CV. However, I won't forgive the board for pushing him to this. He's a red in my eyes, one of our adopted own.
Perhaps hopefully if this IS just a rumour, then we need to send a message to the board at the next home game Daniel Stendel's red and white army!! Don't we protect our own?
The worrying thing is, Stendel is one of the very best parts of Barnsley FC at this moment in time and if we are to get out of the mess we are in, Stendel will be a key component, possibly THE key component, in making that happen. Although I firmly believe that any competent manager could have got us promoted last season, Stendel implemented a style that was good to watch and really inspired players and fans alike. We've got a really good guy in charge here and without sounding too clinical, a big asset. To lose him and then have to try to find another manager, who may well be as random an appointment as Morais, would be a huge concern.
For me what he did that others wouldn’t be able to do was create a feel good factor that wasn’t just linked to results, but was about him and his demeanour in and around the town
Exactly, he galvanised an almost broken and disillusioned club and got everyone going. Even the odd pint in town just showed that bit of engagement with the town and the fans. His enthusiasm even through broken English was evident as well. Contrast with the seemingly dour and negativity around Jack Ross and to an extent Kenny Jackett and it's not hard to see why we pushed on and clinched promotion.
Difficult not to like a guy who, before ever taking charge of the team, put his Germany shirt on and went to the Garrison to watch his team in the world cup. In fc*king Barnsley. No coming back from that, instant respect that lasts a lifetime.
Never heard of Stendel before his appointment, like him but he was appointed with a brief which the board aren’t going to change
