You were a breath of fresh air when you entered our club last year. You lifted the spirits of players, staff and, most importantly, the fans. You created a thoroughly entertaining, winning team from a group of players written off by some before a ball was kicked last season. Not only did did you get us automatically promoted for the first time in twenty two years, you organised the best defence in the entire EFL. To top it off, it was your side that became the first Barnsley team to remain unbeaten in the league for an entire season since 1968, fifty one years ago. Others might sneer, belittle and denegrate your achievements, I certainly won't. This season has been extremely difficult for everyone connected to Barnsley Football Club. However, I still had the utmost faith in you and your abilities to pull us clear. Others think differently. I'm well aware that many will disagree with me, but quite frankly tonight I don't care. I appreciate your efforts and success with our club.
Gave us a great season and promotion last season , had we backed him with the players and experience he wanted this season then am sure we would have had another good season
The latest in a long line of managers doing their best who I've been gutted to see go. He'll benefit from a rest, that's for sure! Then I'm sure he'll get a good job elsewhere and will always be fondly remembered in tarn.
He gave us one of my favourite seasons, put smiles back on our faces after a terrible season before he arrived and united the fanbase. It's such a shame it has ended this way but I believe most know none of this was his fault. Best wishes and good luck Daniel.
My opinion might be sentimental claptrap, but the 12 months of football he gave us after he was appointed was worth more to me than just football. A 2018 that was difficult in the early months for me personally was transformed by what Daniel Stendel did with our club and team, it was a season right up there with the Hunter, Wilson, Bassett, Heckingbottom's. He was a big part of coming out of 2018 in a far better state of mind than I entered it. I am genuinely saddened by what today has brought, the guy has connected with the town and it's football people like few before. And irrespective of what is made public in the days to come, watching football at Barnsley last season was genuinely a privilege. I thought he'd earned a long stay at Oakwell, I'd put my cards in the table a while ago and said I'd love to see him here for a while even if we did get relegated, but alas all good things come to an end. Daniel Stendel, thank you. And good luck.
