If you budget to make a loss of say 3 million a season and split that between 8,000 fans, it’s only £375 a season.

    just a thought.

I always thought fan ownership was a daft idea as we would need more money than any of us have, however seen as our supposed billionaire owners have not put £1 of their own money in why shouldn’t we be fan owned?! Our one significant ground improvement, the fan zone has been paid for by the fans

Fan ownership or at least part ownership is an interesting concept. It would be one way of embedding the community feel of our club once and for all.

We wouldn’t have a hope in hell of ever competing at championship level of course but given the events of this season I think we have reached that point already anyway.

Go ahead of you're willing to accept third tier football at the very best. Probably much lower.
You'd end up with exactly the outcome most of those unhappy with the current situation would never countenance.
I don't have any magic solution but fan ownership....God help us!

We are going to be third tier next season. We aren’t ever going any further than we are now.

My expectations of fan ownership would be fourth tier at best.

We'd have to sell our best players in January and summer each year to make it work. Sounds like a Plan. Put me down for a share.

We aren’t ever going to improve on where we are now with our current owners (sellers) this is as good as it ever gets for a Barnsley fan now.

I'm not speaking in favour of the current owners. I just don't want fan ownership.

I don’t want fan ownership or any other owners.
I want Chien Lee and these directors to succeed.
But IMO they need to get people involved on the board of directors that know the English leagues.

To be quite honest nudger I've been baffled by why they bought us in the first place beyond a cheap lottery ticket for the Prem. Nothing they've done since has really convinced and I'm now more baffled than ever about where they're steering us.

When Patrick cryne said he would give the club to the fans i had mixed views on it.

Can see definite upside but can also see real pitfalls too

And the potential pitfalls are very deep. I'm assuming that there are one or two people on here who are pretty wealthy by the standards of the average Yorkshire person. But even if they have a spare 500k or million sitting in their bank account, in shares or whatever, it's not going to get a professional football club very far if they ever need bailing out at some point due to some sort of unexpected problem.

Always hated that idea when Dyson use to go on about it..
But I'd sooner watch us play Halifax Chesterfield and Altrincham than carry on as we are .

In germany the fans i beleive own 51 of the club with the financial powerhouse only allowed by law to own 49% to prevent asset strippers.

Thing that would stop this is not that many people would put in. Sad reality is we're stuck with these lot. I'm not renewing my season ticket after 36 years following the team of this lot fail to a. put some of the glaring profits they've made into the squad on January and b. Apologise and explain for this week.

Some won't agree. Some think the is fine or acceptable. That's fine but I don't think I'm be alone and I think without the above two conditions being bet the club will lose more than just me and not sure what will be left then

Could you imagine with our fans? We'd have to put a boxing ring in the car park.

And we'd be left with 36 year old players on 10k a week, unanimous vote.

It certainly works over there, but they don’t have the market pressures we have (wages etc) and also all clubs have same set up, both these reasons are why it won’t work over here, which is a shame.
