all quite true but one old head should and would keep younger heads calm or calmer and help gel the team together
Pinillos has barely played, despite having a fine season last year, and to be honest he was perfectly fine against Forest, his only recent appearance. Pace is not everything otherwise Gary Neville would never have been any good. Thiam is no worse than the others who have regularly started and again, had a great season last year. Ditto Cavare. Makes me wonder why they were regular picks last season yet all three have struggled to get in this time around despite their younger challengers not doing much and the manager continually referring to experience.
I think Adam Murray will be delighted, he’s probably been hoping for an opportunity like this as he’s been a first team manager before & a couple of decent results gives him a chance to either put himself in the window for our managers job or for another club in the lower leagues. If results go badly so what? He’ll just go back to coaching the under 18’s. It’s a no lose situation for him really.
Only Klopp and Guardiola were in front of Adam Murray on our shortlist. There again, I might be full of cr4p!
Looking at Murray's sports science and sports analysis background, I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to be a longer term appointment than we think. His beliefs seem to fit what the club are trying to do.
What’s the point in experience if it isn’t backed up by ability? Let’s go see if Hignett and Redfearn still want a game I’m sure they’ll add experience to the team.
That could be a blessing in disguise. A full back too slow to push up would probably be where we need him to be when we lose possession.
I'm sorry, I must have imagined Pinillos, Thiam and Cavare playing near enough every game last season when available. For a manager who kept on referring to experience and playing with a new team, it seems off a little that he discarded those players in favour of Ben and Jordan Williams who were here last season and in Thiam's case, 20-year-old new signings that he allegedly had no input into signing. Are those three players any good at this level? It wouldn't appear so. But are they worse than the youngsters who were getting the nod ahead of them? The first starting lineup next week will be interesting.
Pinillios has been injured quite a long time.He needed to get back to match fitness. Think people have said about issues with Cavare but he was one to post his support on social media.
This post is an opinion with no basis in fact I would imagine the relationship between Stendel and Cavare could get very heated. Cavare was selected in the pfa League 1 team of the year, he's as strong as an ox, he's so fast and he can play. He can own the winger he's marking and often does, both defensively and offensively. He's also mad as a box of frogs. His lapses in concentration are infuriating. I understand he refused to travel to a game last season. He's our best and worse player. I would think the relationship between the two was as mental as Cavaré's performances. I hope they remain friends though, two good people.
Doubtful Murray will even be in charge to be fair. In regards Cavare, Thiam and Pinnilos - if they’re not signing new contracts (if offered) then the board might have ‘no interest’ in them being played - they’re blocking Williams and Williams getting experience (increasing value). We have no idea if the board have influence over the team selection in this interim period or not....
