Seen some good performances this season fulham, charlton, wigan, leeds, derby to be fair its individual errors from inexperienced players that have mostly cost us. I don't know what you expect the guy to do he has been setup to fail by a the men above who are out to make a profit on every player and put profits before staying in this league. Obviously I will be behind the players and whoever takes charge but when the season ends I will have to have a good think about renewing when the time comes as I dont like profits before target strategy, I feel disconnected from the club and the statement was appalling I cant believe we haven't been issued another but again kept in the dark by the owners.
What you say may well be true and I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments of moving on and supporting the new Head coach/Manager, but that does not let the owners/board/ceo 'off the hook'. The statement notifying Stendel's dismissal was reprehensible and displayed a complete lack of understanding of British football and how a club is embedded within the community and the link with the supporters (not fans). It is not like the US where a franchise can move from one city to another a thousand miles away where the fans have no link with the club (franchise). The board could do well to see what it says on the town's coat of arms replicated on the team's shirt "Spectemur Agendo". It is a sobering reminder of what we, the club and community are about and the standard of behaviour/performance we aspire to.
I’ll always support the players while they are wearing the red of my Club. So they will have my backing on Saturday and while ever I draw breath. DS has gone and he won’t be coming back so that’s the end of that. However, unlike most on this Board, I’m not willing to give the owners the benefit of the doubt. I’ll judge them by their actions and in nearly two years in charge i’ve not seen anything to suggest they have the interests of my Club at heart. Not even in the promotion season when it looked like they spent the season undermining the attempts to get back up to this League and they have certainly undermined our efforts to stay there. So no. They’ve done for me now. I respect those who disagree but I won’t be crying in my soup when they leave. The sooner the better.
They've done absolutely nothing to suggest they care one bit.all I see is a group of rich men taking advantage of people. Taking advantage of volunteers to renovate the stands Taking advantage of volunteers to run a fanzone Taking advantage of volunteers to run matchday activities Taking advantage of Barnsley football club as a vehicle to trade stocks in players Since they came in what have they actually done? And I mean THEY rather than other people who they then take the credit for the work of.
Take it as you like. I’m just being positive unlike some posters on here. Managers will come and go, part of the game. We will never get a true insight into what really went off. Rather than picking apart someone’s post, try and have something constructive to say yeah?
Back to my post, let’s pass judgement when we have the facts. We don’t know exactly if he was sacked or he offered to resign. People are quick to blame the board.
Can’t disagree with some of what you say but the defence having absolutely no direction or tactical instructions during the Brentford/Derby and Preston games has to lie with the head coach. As a professional footballer at any level, surely you know it’s your job to mark your man and not go walk about during the game so what we’re they instructed, or were they just not listening to him?
Unless we were actually present we dont know but I certainly know who I believe. Beyond reasonable doubt. The facts listed above illustrate why there is distrust
Nearly a week has passed since our owners released that diabolical statement and nothing since so who is at fault for the board being blamed?
My previous answer wasn't aimed at you or to single you out... however this one might so take it as you like... just because the ones who don't share your opinion myself included doesn't make you RIGHT, or give you the right to say we are negative. The only negativity that I see comes from folk who are prepared to paper over cracks with their rose coloured glasses and dare I say it adopt a happy clapper attitude especially when Rome is burning before your very eyes. There's nobody as blind as those that want to be when presented with facts. You can go as far back as hecky who publically stated things weren't right off the field.. I can go back further to Mark Robins who told me personally that there were better run conference clubs than Barnsley Fc...( harsh but true in my opinion) New owners come in but still the same fundamental problems. Plus let's remind some that these same Guys have previous history of making mistake after mistake... One relegation already on their CV... A relegation that could have been avoided... Agreed by many.... For you to claim that you are right and we are wrong.... well... The discriptive... Fickle fans takes on a new importance... Yes I agree at some point we need to move on unfortunately unlike you appear to.. Some of us have a sence of loyality that goes more than the flip and toss throw away society that many these days champion. I for one still feel angry that these owners are been allowed to run roughshot over our club and yet folk like yourself think it's OK not to question... May I also add some advice about life... nothing ever comes of it unless you challenge it and ask questions...then act on it... The sooner some in my opinion stop rolling over to have their belly tickled the sooner we get answers... To the very questions that these owners dodge and refuse to answer... Yes there's a far amount that need answering.
There maybe legalities as to why the board haven’t come out and released another statement. I’m not saying that original statement was okay, far from it. The work Stendel did last season and the way he adhered himself to the fans is the main reason why he deserves a more respectful and dignified statement.
Facts so far are, no improvement in league position, no investment from the owners, no improvement on the commercial side and the saleable assets on the field sold. The accounts showed no monies taken out but there is now a loan facility in place. Despite all the negativity of Patrick he did put his own wealth in to the club. Accepting and moving on is fine if this were just a disagreement/sacking of manager. The issue is much deeper.
When you talk about fickle, I bet you was one of the fans including myself that was getting excited over the prospect of a multi billion consortium taking over our club. The promise of stability and a steady rise up the football leagues to the promise land. A dream that all us Barnsley fans dare to dream. Yet most of us are quick to criticise the same board of directors and question the motive of these people without substance. I’m not saying that I completely agree with the boards decision to let Stendel go or that this disrespectful statement was right, cause that in my eyes is as low as you can go. But I am still keen to see where this lot are willing to take us, You May think I have moved on but I have not forgotten. Stendels enthusiasm and the way he embraced the town was infectious and we will struggle to replicate that but we could appoint someone else who makes us that bit better and keep us in the league. Bring in the right players to steady the ship and progress us on. That’s what I am banking on. Also, Robins era was under Crynes ownership, I don’t see what that has to do with the current owners?
If there is some defence to their conduct over Daniel and the player sales then let's hear it - if thete is none then let's stop trying to defend them.
I’m not going Satdi, buoyed by the success of last season and with expectations of a tough but successful season to come I bought my first season ticket for 10 years. Can’t believe how shabbily these owners have treated the fans this past two weeks. It’s obvious they don’t give a flying fook about this club. It’s a vanity project, it’s about buying and selling and ******** to those who are invested in the club in ways other than money. So on Saturday I won’t go, won’t make a blind bit of difference as they already have my money. Best idea for a protest on Saturday would be to sing Daniel’s name for 21 minutes then the ground empties. Wont happen but if it did what a message that would send to this board.
