I see this as an "up yours" from the owners to the fans, especially as most if not all have given their full support to DS. This is our punishment, we have been excluded from our daily feed of news etc, we might not even be advised that there is a match on Saturday, in fact we could all turn up and find a last minute cancellation. It just all feels so stupid and childish. "It's our goddam club, we bought it and we'll say what happens." I'd like to know as well what the Crynes are doing about this. Are they part of the charade?
Other than further clarity on the managerial situation, I don’t think there has been any less info or news than normal during an international break.
I've waiting with baited breath for the latest update on the Jumble Lane crossing. Everything else can wait.
I went to a Q&A at Athersley Rec with Lee and Ben towards the end of that epic run of defeats. They didn't seem to be hiding to me. Took dogs abuse both before and after for standing up for them, believing in them and the team and stating we were going to be OK. More than OK.
Of course there is silence! There would usually be ‘international round-ups’ a whipping up of and enthusiasm to sell tickets v Swansea on Saturday..... What a contrast - living in the North East, the Sunderland manager appointment is hot news, every radio and TV news bulletin - whoever the fans want, the club and local media are ensuring that they are headline news and the enthusiasm is captured! Can I be bothered to drive 230 miles round trip on Saturday ? Good question! Never felt this disinterested in 50 years!
From a PR perspective I have never known a more catastrophic fortnight (week?) for our club. I don’t think there is any way back for our current owners and the silence has contributed to that Firstly the decision Then the statement Now the silence
I could be wrong Jay, but was it at that meeting where Johnson was at pains to emphasise that he'd been asking for experienced pros to be brought in, even before that run of defeats started? Whilst it was a division lower than where we are now, it remphasised the issue we currently have. I'm sure it was only a couple of weeks prior to that meeting that Hammill and Long signed on loan, and we gradually started to get going. (I can vaguely remember a BBS thread about it, might have been either you or Dyson that made the point back then).
It could be interesting to see how long they can stick out this silence, it's strange seeing nothing come from the club even with players training or anything. Who knows, the board could be telling the media team to keep the players, staff etc out of the frame until the new guy is announced. Unsure of what the reasoning behind that may be, but it's even stranger to not see the international round ups or even training pics, that's if they have been training that is.
As I said earlier, I haven’t noticed anything out of the norm. There’s been no follow up regarding the managerial situation but everything else seems as is to me.
I've not seen anything like this past week in over 50 years. It's so far from the "norm" it's almost impossible to believe.
This silence better not drag on because fans will be waiting to know what to do about the jumble lane crossing this weekend.
I know what you mean, but I just don't get how recent events can be simply ignored on the official site. The last thing I want to do is to argue with a fellow Red about it, but many Reds I know are getting angrier by the day. Some even think the owners may have given up, and have decided to sell up.
