Are we a selling club of coarse we are just like the other 92 english clubs.I get sick and tired of the moaners blaming the owners who ever they are for letting players go.Do we handcuff them to the gates while their contracts up. Hourihane could have been offered 30 grand a week but he would have still gone to villa for 28.Pinnock,davies,lyndsey,roberts mawson etc all wanted a move and your never goin to stop it.(at any club)The next moan will be giving our recent signings 3 and 4 yr deals after complaining about too short contracts for the last 3 yrs. Concerning our current problems ok the board have made mistakes and stendle will have made mistakes(tactics and team selection) . The current board bought stendle in and got us promotion and i cant see many billionaires wanting to buy little old Barnsley so be carefull what you wish for.
A) players seek to leave because they know, unlike other clubs, we will sell at any price B) people are more frustrated that we sell these players and do not replace them or reinvest the funds C) whether they are or are not billionaires I can’t see what their personal wealth has to do with anything when they haven’t invested a penny of their own money
I was just going to say.....no one minds (and kind of expects)players leaving....its the replacement of (as well as getting market value for the sales) that is our major problem. Good business....bradshaw out...woody in. bad business....potts out.....green in. moore out.......no one in. Selling....fine, just get their worth and a half decent replacement.
The contract length is a non-issue as far as I can see. Other than it will presumably increase the potential fee when (not if) the club decides to sell a particular player. The ready-made excuse simply changes from 'he only had a year left on his contract' to 'the player expressed a desire to leave'. Therefore, it is only of interest to supporters if the proceeds are re-invested. Hmmm....
Of course we will sell players. We always have. It isn’t usual for us or any other club to sell all our better players every 12 months. No club can sell half a team and replace it with unknown and untried players and expect any level of success. It’s daft to pretend what we do is normal.
We’ve not heard from billionaire Richy Rich on here for a while... maybe he’d be interested in buying us?
Another one who completely misunderstands the concerns of many. Yes players will be sold - it doesn’t have to be all of them, but still, yes. The issue is selling everyone all at the same time and replacing them with untried kids, and clearly not reinvesting all of the money they brought in when they said they would.
Clearly not reinvesting the money? Wonder how much money as gone on all these 4 and 5 year deals we've been handing out a lot of people on here seem to know everything about what the owners are spending and not spending
6 million from promotion they said would be pumped staight back into the playing squad. Then we sold Lindsay, Moore and Pinnock. We also lost Davies, Hedges,Fryers, Jackson and Isgrove off the wage bill. You can't tell me we've spent that much EVEN when they said they would?
A 5 year deal is apportioned over a 5 year period. A 4 year deal is apportioned over a 4 year period. You pay a years salary in a year, you don't pay 5 years salary up front.
You talk about this 6.million promotion money n from what I remember hearing shortly after promotion that isn't paid as 1.lump sum it's was to be paid in installments over a certain amount of time And does anyone actually know how much transfer money we received for all the players that left or just guessing as usual
You can’t spent the majority of the opening post throwing about guesswork and then lambast others for doing the same thing. It’s just not how it goes.
