From what I can gather, Murray is big into analysis and using it for marginal gains. His ethos seems to be “If I can improve everyone by 1%”. If true, it fits nicely into spreadsheets etc, developing players and so forth.
id say in that instance then for the majority of clubs, its failed managers , and those about to fail.
He was brought in to the first team set up apparently to perform analysis of the opposition (by Daniel) at first. If he improves everyone by 1% we're going to go down with 6 points ;-) My point is more that any inconsistency in approach by the owners doesn't do them favours. They played to the cameras about their genius following Daniels fantastic record breaking season. To then do an about face and go with convenience and the cheap option (til rare communication tells us otherwise) Murray may be 4th on the list of pressing style coaches.... somehow I think that a smidge unlikely! ;-)
Ask the British cycling team worked for them. Granted they started at a higher base. TBH your response is just pedantic, because clearly he will want to improve everyone as much as possible, the point is he believes he can improve everyone by using data, so if he improves everyone we can only get better, wether that will be enough time will tell,
That will depend on if they insist on the tactics previously used, if they do and argue his skill set is to improve everyone, especially younger players, they would say it’s a tweak not inconsistency. Ultimately only time will tell and until then we have to hope
Ah, you're making the assumption that I think the players aren't very good. Individually we have some good players that will improve with some help, but as things stand they're not good enough. Results don't lie. Great performance against Fulham, then a lot of huffing and puffing. Take the 3 draws. Wigan away, didn't score, Charlton at home, lost the lead twice. Derby at home, threw away the lead with Sunday morning defending and equalised with the last kick of the game. For someone that you think doesn't rate the players, I've seen every league game this season. I'm not going to have people telling me blacks white. I feel for the players, but no amount of sympathy erases the fact that we're on course for a very low points total.
You said we’d do well to reach the high 20’s, I said I think more of our players than that and noted we’ve played just 11 games. That’s not me telling you anything. It’s an opinion. We are allowed to disagree. And I’ve been to every game too.
If they don't insist on the same tactical approach, then everything they have said about DNA and a consistent style and coaching through the youth set up is a load of rubbish and the last 16 months have been a waste for the club, despite the joy fans had for a year. Daniel was brought in to work with young players and certainly got some big improvements well beyond 1% considering how broken everything was before his arrival. Its just a mess. Either incompetent, disingenuous, hypocritical, inconsistent or deluded... or a mix of them. All will depend on what the next short term steps are. Sadly, I don't have any hope. To hope I'd have to care about the short term incumbents and frankly, I don't. Woodrow and Mowatt aside, I've zero attachment to this set up now. Tonge and Stern too, but they seem to have been sidelined and silenced til a more convenient moment to remove them. Bad times.
I've no doubt they will both want away now. Lets be fair, Woodrow is far too good for us and his finishing is fantastic. You consider how many chances Winnall had, Woodrow has been completely starved for the majority of games so far, hence dropping so deep. Yet he's still sniffed out a few goals, some fantastic ones too. But I fully expect him to be sold for less than half his value at the first sign of interest despite having 3 years on his deal. inevitable.
It's a team game and most. If not all clubs have better players than us or more in their squad to the required standard. We need to make up that gap through organisation and teamwork. Regardless of how much we like him, Stendel did not do that. No matter what the mitigating circumstances are, we as fans, would not have been as forgiving to a Davey or a Morais had they lost 7 and drew 3 of the last ten games. It is an absolute disgrace how the club has handled this but I think we should reflect on the situation we were in and what we were seeing on the pitch.
Well the marginal gains is part of the fit reds thing. Explained very well. Part of team ethics and all that. They explained the cycling as an example and how everyone is looking at a 1 per cent. That increase of each area adding a margin across multiple areas adds up considerably across the entire club so to speak. It sounded good and I've no issue with it. The only issue at present is that everyone needs buy in. I'm not sure the outlook at present has everyone on the same hymn sheet as it were
We were seeing a technically solid/good team of extraordinarily young players with no leadership, minimal experience of the championship and a large number of new faces who had never played together. I think its a miracle Daniel got 6 points to be quite honest!
Maybe he could prescribe the some asthma medicine Folk have turned riding a push bike into a religion, there’s a bit more to football than peddling a bike dressed like you’re about to be fired out of a cannon. I think we all know we’re getting a coach that suits ‘The Plan’ rather than one to progress the club, he’ll be gone in no time and we’ll be back to square one.
Agreed, but as replied to others, what he’s saying is he can improve everyone, some will be more(a lot more hopefully)
