I don't understand the need for people to broadcast how or who they voted for, It really does puzzle me. If I was walking down the street and a camera was whacked in my face asking how I voted id not very politely tell them its non of their business. Likewise I don't care how Margaret and Marie from the local greasy spoon voted either. Horrendous television really.
I'm a pensioner and a remainer. I spoke to my 82 year old uncle some months ago about this - he's a leaver - and he said the reason he wants out is so the hospitals can get the extra money. I didn't even bother to ......
You were lucky, most taxi drivers round ere are non British. At least if they all go back people will either have to walk more or catch bus, so win win for NHS & Environment
I think your wife was right about the young ens working. Tell her not to worry, they'll not be working for much longer if this tory shower get their way! I mean, they've got form in looking after us northern working class types haven't they?
I think the biggest problem facing the Barnsley taxi drivers will be if the government now feels free to de-regulate the Barnsley hackney taxi service, which would mean no restriction to the number of hackney licences - meaning more taxis, meaning more competition, meaning cheaper fares. Ergo, poorer drivers. (Financially poorer, not poorer in skill, that couldn't happen)
The fares are set by the council. But i agree with the issue of greater competition. And the additional problems that could occur.
Interesting viewpoint. I can’t really comment because I stopped watching it when it became apparent that the panel and audience were predominantly Brexiteers. It couldn’t possibly represent fairly the 73% of the eligible electorate that did vote to leave (even before the Brexiteers started dying off )
Well, based on the evidence, their reasoning appears daft. And most were older than me and I’m the wrong side of 60.
Despite the fact that hordes of working class people in working class towns voted out. Hard to get the head round that one. Middle england wanted to stay, the traditional tory heartlands. So no, as a socialist i'd suggest non-tories are responsible for brexit.
so everyone in Barnsley who voted leave were predominantly retired or don’t work?? Hmmm - a little patronising and pithy one might think!
Didn’t say that did I? It’s a matter of fact that the demographic most likely to vote Brexit were older people. The point about them not interviewing younger people was not that they necessarily were anti-Brexit, but that they were presumably not available for interview because they were working. But generally, younger people are less likely to be Brexiteers.
Interviewer- what are your thoughts on the brexiteers? Barnsley interviewee-a don't know it wor art at pictures yet.
Go on then, give me one tangible benefit that it will bring to the average leave voter... Because I can tell you plenty of ways they’ll be worse off.
