Much has been made about the amount of top sides we have played so far. The run to Christmas looks like this..... Huddersfield Town away current league position 22nd. Bristol City home current league position 9th. Stoke City home current league position 23rd. Blackburn Rovers away current league position 14th. Middlesbrough away current league position 21st. Hull City home current league position 19th. Cardiff City away current league position 13th. Reading home current league position 20th. QPR home current league position 4th. Millwall away current league position 16th. Out of what looks like an easier run to what we've had so far we need to be looking at picking up on average two points a game. If we get 15+ points out of thirty that will be a good total. Only 3/10 are in the top half of the table. Half the games are against sides in the bottom third of the table. This run to Christmas will define our season. We could be in deep trouble by the festive period, with players looking at our league position and thinking they don't want to sign for us in January. Or we could be comfortably mid table and our owners will look like heros for the managerial change.
There’s at least 4 of them Middlesbrough, Huddersfield, Stoke & Cardiff who I’d expect to be doing a lot better. My worry is that they hit form before we play them. Huddersfield have been better since the Cowley’s took over
We bottom of league so expecting two points a game is a very big ask . I hope we get two points a game but not expecting , if we come out of Christmas with five or six clubs in or around us and a better gd ready for a fight in new year that’ll do me ,
If we can get to January and still be in touch then we have chance I suppose. I fear the transfer window might weaken us (Woodrow) but we will see.
I'm fairly resigned to losing Woodrow if he keeps scoring in a struggling side. That for me would be game over if we do lose him, as we won't score sufficient goals to survive.
As skeptical I am about the owners I don't think we would sell with him having 2 years on his deal left
This is how it SHOULD go assuming owners with our best interests at heart... Get through the ten games with hopefully 12 points which keeps us in touch. Then the owners do what I seem to remember reading was their plan and invest some money into the squad in January. I hope we do stay competitive until the transfer window because that will then force the owners to show their hand.....Keep Woodrow and add a couple more players or cash in on him. Frankly I'd be amazed and appalled if Woodrow was sold but after the last couple of weeks who knows?
We will sell anyone for a slight profit, 2 years or 10 years on their contracts. The trick is getting in a suitable replacement....like actually getting woody in for bradshaw.
I’d be shocked if we sold Woodrow. The board would be looking at a 7 million drop in revenue with relegation.
Well i'll be making a rare appearance for the millwall game and i expect us to be flirting with the play-offs by then
I think there's a chance of picking up 20 points if the team applies itself as it did for 88 mins v Charlton, 65 mins v Birmingham, 94 mins v Wigan, 89 mins v Notts Forest, 80 mins v Leeds, 35 mins v Brentford, 60 mins v Swansea and 60 mins v West Brom. I don't think there has been massive change under Murray. I just think the application has improved. The performances have remained the same and that has been mostly good this season. Unfortunately points aren't given out for snippets here and there.
