Fascinating watching last night. When Brexiters said they knew what they were voting for, I wonder how much they knew about this ? https://www.channel4.com/programmes/dispatches/on-demand/70263-001
Boris will deliver this . He’s stated the NHS will not be privatised ! This from a man that had a track record of untruths and even lying to the Queen.
Every time I hear the words ‘I knew exactly what I was voting for’ I think of Channel 4 news the day after the referendum
I feel embarrassed to hear the crass, jingoistic and bigoted tripe emanating from my fellow townsfolk.
Boris will win a majority & the entire of the North of England will be repatriated to the workhouse, now called the zero hour contract. Turkeys are voting for Christmas. Lemmings are throwing themselves of cliffs. Working class people voting for Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson (I like to pronounce it falafel).
A couple of lads that work for me at weekends DJing have had a total nightmare. One was for the now privatised Parcelforce, which was zero hours. He showed up at 8am 15 days on the row, was made to hang about for a couple of hours & told "there is no work today, go home". He has bedroom tax to pay, as he has 3 bedrooms in his council flat in Pitsmoor, that he's lived in since 1989. **** Falafel lovely person Johnson
Give me a practical example of how this has impacted anyone negatively? Given 99% of our laws are 'UK' not EU laws, and that the UK has voted for 99% of the EU laws, and we have a veto, it's a bit like not buying a season ticket because theres a chance a game will be arranged that you can't attend (even though they're going to ask for your OK on all fixture dates)
It is amazing how much ignorance there is on EU and British law. There is very little EU legislation that applies unilaterally across the EU. The only one that springs to mind is "The European Human Rights Act", which oddly enough the original was drafted by British lawyers before UK was in the Common Market. Most of our legislation originates from an EU directive, the UK legislature in conjunction with interested UK parties then drafts UK legislation based on the EU directive framework. The other 27 member states then draft their own version that they feel best suits their country's needs. For example in 1988 the EU issued the TCMSD as a means to improve safety in construction industry. In the following six years The Health& Safety Commission in conjunction with the UK construction industry through organisations like RIBA, RICS, IOSH and others like the then Federation of Civil Engineering Contractors . As a Committee member of the FCEC and vice chairman I was part of the consultation process. The result was the CDM Regs (1994) which were our own and unique to the UK. Also along with the Danes the best version of what was required by the directive. EU countries 'below the olive oil line" Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal & others similar legislation were quite frankly rubbish and did little to improve their countries construction safety. The HSWA 1974 is an "Enabling Act" which means the UK can pass legislation under that act without recourse to the EU. There are other similar acts which do not require a 'rubber stamp' from the EU. So when Brexiters say we voted to take back our laws, in the main, they are talking tripe.
There are millions of bigitted idiots like this sadly. Good luck to them, they will be the losers. No one will come back & interview them after Brexit, which is at least a relief.
Well, he did it for 3 weeks & gave up. How long would you try? He is desperate. I've had to lend him money to pay his rent, He tried to get a minimum wage job delivering medical supplies. It's hard, he's a black lad, lovely bloke, never let me down in 7 years, but has a lot of competition for low paid jobs.
In some defence of some Barnsley folk how many sensible replies were given in that report but channel 4 chose not to air?
