Please put this one to bed for me if I'm wrong. I am a little hard of hearing and sometimes mistake what's being sung. But were the ponty in full voice using the same lyrics they had been requested to remove. Noticed it more at away games. Also noticed opposition fans using the song but with different lyrics attached. It's as though they think f em. We'll sing what we want. But just appear foolish at the best. Not debating the racist/stereotype argument as b4. But whether people agree it should be frowned upon.
I mentioned it in another thread. Simpletons will always announce their presence. We seem to have quite a few.
Yes what you heard was the lyrics asked to be removed. I’m not sure if it’s a two fingers up to the board or not but it’s a little strange that the song has started to be sung during the last few games again. I do like the tune, it has potential to get the full ponty going but wish they’d change the words.
Peterborough use the exact lyrics but just sub Ivan Toney in for Diaby. Other than that it’s the same song.
Cant see why you couldn't substitute heart or something. I suppose if enough fans sang that it would drown the other word out.
Not so strange if you recall Diaby missed games through injury. Sherlock Holmes may deduce that the song reappeared with the return of the player.
We are weak dealing with the culprits so it won't stop. Other clubs would have handed out life long banning orders by now.
Not sure that would happen at any club mate. As wombwell red said other clubs fans appear to be using it, it seems, who would you single out for banning orders given the amount that join in.
As mentioned, the Peterborough fans sang the song abut Ivan Toney and no-one was banned. He also released a statement saying that he did not find the lyrics offensive in the slightest, but asked for them changing to more "family-friendly" ones so everyone could join in. It was a good move in my opinion, as you always get the whole "I'll do what I want" attitude they are told they are being racist.
Very good response from Ivan. I read that too. It may be club policy for Diaby not to comment though.
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...salah-mane-fans-the-kop-anfield-a9168816.html An article that articulates this very subject very well. If you are happy with the singing of the song you are categorically wrong.
Bambo plays video's of the fans singing the son on his Instagram story quite alot. Truth be told I don't think he was ever offended, I jist think the club don't want anything appear in the papers or online about it.
I've never heard the actual racist part of the song. It all seems to go quiet when they get to the offending bit.
