I make it 39 days now and 5 fewer games for him/her to make a difference. They made a very good appointment last time only for it all to turn sour due to the recruitment and sales policy. I would imagine that is making it so much harder this time. Plus our league position is far from attractive. Correct me if my memory is failing me but didn't Flitcroft keep us up for a season with a sprinkling of veterans?
Apologies for the typo in the heading. Those who are aware of Chad will know that the "not" should read "no"
You have to realise that scouring Europe for the very best talent is very difficult especially with a one way day rover pass across 17 countries. If thats hard then think about how we get the candidate through manchester airport arrivals and customs which at best takes 3 weeks from landing. So be patient, pop down to Oakwell and buy the ‘Reds New Manager’ advent calendar to see which revolving door drops on the successful candidate.
You can edit the title you know. If you click on your thread, at the top right there's a drop down menu called "Thread Tools". On there, there's an option to edit the title. PS: The first time I saw "Thread Tools" I thought it was a list of posters who didn't agree with my post.
Pretty sure I've read from many on the board that the squad isn't good enough and if Stendel couldn't get results out of them then no other manager could either. So it's irrelevant.
That's the spirit jakey defend em too the death... And don't forget, it's always someone else's fault.
And also - I posted this a couple of days ago. I’m obviously not enjoying this appalling run of results. It’s the worst run in my lifetime so I’m told. But it doesn’t feel as bad as some I’ve experienced. Can’t put my finger on why that is. And results will never determine my attendance anyway. There is some quality in the team we have but there’s a lot of naivety also. Most of them look to be learning on the job, the defence especially, because they are doing that exactly - learning on the job. This is my only real issue with the club at present. I believe we went way over the top with our recruitment in the summer. I’m all for the strategy in place, but it shouldn’t be an exclusive and pure way of recruiting. There should be scope to add older heads, loanees, a marquee signing even. I accept the need to live within our means and accept that our best young players will be sold to keep us ticking over financially. But we seem to have taken the strategy to a dark extreme. I’m old, so it’s not as bad for me, but it’s almost pointless getting attached to any player now, or, even the manager. The kids have no heroes. Or at least, not for long. So I wouldn't say I'm defending anything or anybody to the death. I'd call it having and sharing an opinion. I make no apologies for not ripping into everything about the club I love just to follow the bbs herd.
There's an article on him in today's Mirror. He claims the injury in February meant that his move elsewhere was postponed. Regarding the injury, he says that he had blood coming out of his ears but an initial scan was done and he didn't need surgery. Another test in April revealed that he had incurred a fracture of the temporal bone and had concussion. He's set to lead the line for Wales against Azerbaijan on Saturday and claims he's back to full fitness and if the ball is there to be won, he's going to try to win it.
Wonder why it was all hush at the time? Surely it wouldn't effect his value as anyone trying to buy him would find out about it.
I suspect they didn't know if he was going to have to retire or not. So I can understand caution in this instance and wanting to deflect attention from it until they knew for sure if he was ok or not. Shows the severity, I was at the game and it was horrible to see, and the cracking noise was truly terrible. But there have never been any mentions of a period of memory loss or the aspect of blood. I think if there had been, there would've been even more debate about it and suggestion he may not play again.
Yeah that's true. Let's just let it drift for eternity. Murray in. As caretaker obviously. We don't want to knock the owners for the great job they're doing.
