There's a slight difference between being groomed and indoctrinated than being given information and then voting upon it.

Although reading some of the comments on here I'm not so sure actually.

[QUOTE="DannyWilsonLovechild, post: 2383349, member: 53966"...............if you look at the tories. You have truly purely incompetent people in the actual cabinet, let alone beyond. [/QUOTE]

As exhibit A...... I give you that 'master of disaster'..........'Christopher Grayling' a man who most of us wouldn't trust to run a tap!!

Precisely. I cant recall any minister who has made so many mistakes, in so many departments and seemingly able to get placed in another job at will.... yet aside from that, getting so little negative coverage in the media.

I'm no fan of Abbott, but you consider how much disaster is from the hands of Grayling, and that Abbott has merely made mistakes of presentation and recall... its not even close as to who should receive the most flak.

I didn't say I believed legally enforcing election manifestos could ever happen, and it has beem part of British politics since before I was born. It is more evident nowadays though with social media and constant TV exposure.
Decades ago, 'The Hustings' meant travelling the country, small gatherings often only reported locally and often promises were made and forgotten, but then, all parties gaining office have made false promises. So not sure why everyone is suddenly up in arms about the 'lies and more lies' issuing from the mouths of politicians... I wonder how old is that joke about knowing when a politician is lying?
IMO one of the failings of democracy is people vote for parties peddling what the electorate want to hear and not what they need to hear.

EDIT: removed virtually every party & replaced with 'all parties'

The answer to that is simple, the Media.
Most people don’t look past what they see in the mainstream media and get most of their influences and opinions from there.

Does it make it right? No. But the reality is there and unless Labour find a way to counter that it will continue to struggle to win middle England, which in reality it needs to win a GE.

    Unfortunately that won’t stop it.
Wether we leave or stay for the foreseeable future every time something happens Brexit(or not) will be blamed.

Agree, that any party wanting to halt what many think is the natural order, has to cater to a centre ground. We've had the 3 worst prime ministers of my lifetime, back to back, worsening each time... and Corbyn has failed to hold any to account and continues to be well below them in the polls, both party and personal.

You can have the most noble intent (though I don't believe that either), but if you can't cut through, granted against media resistance, you won't win seats.

‘Some money’. You can pass on almost a million pounds tax free and most of those ‘kids’ will be around 50 before they inherit and already have their own life and money so if they’ve lived that long without it, a bit of tax won’t hurt.

The main people crying about this possible policy are the ones it will never affect.

    Exhibit B. Boris Johnson

    So far:
£50m on a bridge that was never made
£100m on an advertising campaign for something that was known to not be happening when it started
£5m on an airport that wasn't built
    £100k for technical support

    Any others?

9 "Boris Buses" at a cost rumoured to be over £100m each, which then had to be subsidised to be put in service and then had to amended to a) allow people in wheel chairs to fit and b) add doors on the back to meet health and safety standards while removing the unbudgeted cost of conductors required to stop fare dodging and hopping on and off while moving.

The crony claims he allowed building on the site next to the mayors office on what was protected land

Resigning and trying to resign from duties as chair of TfL and Met police. Obviously not giving up his £275k a year Telegraph column.

Endangering the life of, and leading to lengthened imprisonment of a British national by his comments.

Numerous instances of whipping up hatred, making racist and xenophobic comments while failing to apologise...

Oh we could be here all day really!

Home Secretary Priti Patel, the ex International Development Secretary held undisclosed meetings in Israel without telling the Foreign Office while accompanied by an influential pro-Israeli Conservative campaigner and was sacked for it,

Disgraced Former Foreign Secretary Liam Fox

Wasn't she a strong supporter of the death penalty until someone pointed out that holding undisclosed meetings with foreign powers was exactly the kind of thing that got people the death penalty in the past.

Hasn't McVey accidentally allowed arms to be sold illegally to Saudi Arabia too?

We are all entitled to our opinions and cast our vote accordingly...
But before you do so.. Take a long look at your present situation and ask yourself this
Can I honestly put hand on my heart and say I guarantee that my children's health will be anything but 100% perfect as they grow up let alone my own health or any family or friends for that matter.. Do I want to see people dying or homeless because either they can't pay health insurance or have to sell their homes to fund major operations.. Do you revel in others lack of fundamentals of right.. do you laugh and couldn't give 2 hoots about homelessness or those having to use food banks just classing them as smack heads shooting up or drinking themselves to a stuper wasting their benefits benefits you are paying for
Do you believe your better than the next because you've got a good job couple of quid in the bank drive a nice car have good holidays and your invincible and know for a fact you'd never end up living on the streets or avoiding food banks.. That your kids and Co could manage Zero contract living..enjoy your type of lifestyle. Let alone a free point of entry NHS...afford to go to university let alone get a good education.. Just a few examples...
If you can answer yes to any of that with a clear conscience then I suggest you vote anything other than Labour and therefore continue being a smug selfish barsteward that you've become...
No matter what they the elite try to have you believe there's only 2 classes... and if you get up on a morning to go to work you are Working class no matter how you dress it up... Yes there's no problem with trying to better yourself but don't forget where you come from.... you don't know in life what's around the corner... Give me a socialist agenda everytime... All for one one for all... And stick Thatchers self first self last generation where the sun doesn't shine... Simple.
Vote Labour and let's alter what this Tory Government have reduced us to
    Rant over....

The problem with pure capitalism is that it is entirely about money and forgets the people (and you can't have infinite growth with finite resources)
The problem with pure socialism is that it is entirely about people and forgets the money.

So, you need somewhere in the middle, where the state will help when you need it, but if you work hard you can get rewarded for success (and you then give back more to help those who are less fortunate). Unfortunately, greed and self interest have led us too far towards the right.
