watch all the replays, and this happens regularly and used by clubs to beat them
This match if you watch, and it occurs regularly.
The opposition gang up at the far end of the goal and we do not cover them
The ball comes over and they are unmarked. Either nod in or shot. Bingo, goal
This is occurring all the time .
They also never get back fast enough and nobody is marking anybody, result chaos
They never seem to get goal side of the opposition.
There is nobody in command and marshalling them, they are all individuals
    Watch the replays

Tomlin was completely unmarked for their winner. The nearest player to him was in blue. They just don't learn.

I also think they target our full backs, i can remember jay saying ages ago that he would not play pinnilos as he lacks pace against quick wide players. So far i dont think our 2 full backs lack pace but they do lack nous and are out of their depth. Maybe its the way we set up too (as red rain suggests) but the whole defense is constantly exposed and the players are just not on the same page, or good enough at this level, i do think no amount of coaching can eradicate our mistakes but could make us more diffecullt to beat by changing a few things....however we may have to sacrifice our goals to become more coherent as a defensive unit.

He’s nowhere near ready. And yet is still the best option available. Which tells you the blame is from the summer.

I would agree that the biggest part of the damage was done in the summer . It doesn’t imo stop players learning .
To make the same mistakes week after week means they aren’t learning or not being taught properly .
Surely as a player you should be at least improving with experience but we seem to be going backwards , it’s not even one step forward one step back imo it’s just on standstill.

The problem is they have nobody to learn from. John stones credited a huge part of his development to Bobby hassell who passed on vital experience during games.

Some of them are not good enough and may never be good enough for championship football but as a unit our defence aren't even getting the basics right; the basics that a professional player should be able to get right more often than not. The same mistakes are being made on an alarmingly consistent basis. It's simply not good enough.

I can agree with that to some extent that someone on the pitch gives vital advice as the games progressing but it’s the basics imo which is the most galling imo.
To not be good enough or lacking the skill is fair enough but to not do the basics not once or twice but week after week surely they should be picking up some sort of information in training and they’ll have been taught the basics from a young age I’d have thought anyway.

That is the other thing. Some of them are simply not good footballers. Mads Anderson recently guided the ball across his own goal, unwilling to touch it until their player tapped into the net. That isn't inexperience it's just stupidity. I'm a bad footballer and even I was taught at 12 year old not to do that so why is a man who is getting paid to do this for a living making such a stupid decision after having professional training for 12 years? Yes he was at brondby from the age of 9. If you haven't learnt enough to tell you what to do in the most simple of situations in 12 years then you are not good enough.

The question is why is our spreadsheet highlighting these players? And the answer to that is that in my opinion the spreadsheet focuses on physical attributes far too much at the expense of mental attributes. We sign the tallest, the biggest, the fastest etc. We rarely seen to sign the most intelligent.

    Wilks "he's fast"
    Green "he's fast"
    Diaby "he's big"
    Andersen "he's tall"
    Thiam "he's powerful"
    Cavare "he's imposing"

Why not sign someone who the description of "he's good"?

For some reason all the discipline seems to evaporate as the game unfolds .
Not just with referees although that’s a concern with the number of bookings etc but also in the formation and game plan .
There are times when we’re defending when all semblance of formation etc seems to be free for all and lots of goals from opposition are scored from set pieces from stupid free kicks in and around our area in the dying seconds .

Ben Williams was the only player at the back post outnumbered 3 to 1 for the last goal. Replace Ben Williams with a better player if you like, but it won't make any difference unless the rest are marking up as well.
