Communism- nobody can be rich Capitalism- anybody can be rich Socialism- anybody can be rich but nobody should be poor Not that facts matter as we have folks on here that earnestly believe that a party offering fairly moderate socialist policies in the context of the rest of the world in order to provide a fairer society for those worse off are either exactly the same as the nazis or exactly the same as the USSR. Really scary stuff. Like the guy that upon hearing of all that nhs data being given to amazon somehow tried to blame the eu.
Paul Johnson, of the IFS, Labour’s preferred economic forecasters and commentators, is on the record describing Labour’s manifesto as ‘not credible’ and ‘proposing the highest levels of government taxation and spending anywhere in the developed world’. They’ve spent yet more since. Anyone who believes what Labour promises is achievable has no understanding of economics or human behaviour.
I’d say the same for all parties; the Tory manifesto shows a singular lack of ambition, and fails to acknowledge the problems they’re fixing exist after 10 years of their management. But the manifestos are pointless particularly as we’re likely to be taking an unprecedented leap in the dark for the economy. so; given we can’t expect any party to fulfil their manifesto, I’d rather support a party that’s ambition is a more equitable society than one who pays lip service to maybe fixing some of the things they’ve wilfully wrecked.
Johnson’s comments yesterday: ‘EU migrants have been able to “treat the UK as if it’s part of their own country” for too long’. Disgusting dog whistle behaviour.
it’s not like we haven’t all enjoyed treating the rest of the EU ‘as if we have a right to be there’. who doesn’t enjoy a week in Greece, weekend in Paris/Dublin/Amsterdam?
"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist.* Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me." Pastor Martin Niemoller 1946. *Although different versions exist, including one substituting Communists for Socialists, and one with both.
Found it Does he backtrack? That's open to interpretation. You can argue that he is still talking when they boo over him which suggests he had more to his point. There was no pause after they stopped talking whilst he thought up a backtracking story. You could alternatively argue that he had finished his point and that what he was saying whilst booed wasn't going to be about banking advertising of payday loans but that he then thought quickly and backtracked by saying what he did. They are interpretations. My opinion, despite not liking the Tories is that the first option is true. Yours is that the second is. That's fair enough, people often interpret things differently. The facts however are that he did say what I claimed he said and that the video is edited in that it is a trimmed down portion of the original video and I just don't think that's how things should be done regardless of which party it is about. I don't want to be making really important decisions based on edited videos like this or deliberate lies and smears like Corbyn has had to endure
