Sky sports have put it to all 24 clubs in the division their respective teams of the decade. A barnsley fan (maybe a member of this site) has put forward this team; Steele Mawson Pinnock Roberts Hammill Mowatt King Hourihane Vaz te Winnall McBurnie Woodrow now I think personally we can do better than that.
Mine for arguments sake is. Steele Stones Mawson Pinnock Bree Hammill Hourihane Brownhill Barnes Woodrow McBurnie now I know some weren’t here long but they’re my personal favourites that brought me the most pleasure watching them pull on a red shirt.
I know it’s all each persons opinions but these kind of things end up winding me up. Players picked out of position, players who were only here two minutes been picked etc. I can’t fathom how anyone could pick Barnes over Vaz Te, both only here a short time yet Vaz Te was far better. Surely people are only picking Barnes because of what he’s gone on to achieve? It’s like at centre back. Marc Roberts was quality for us at championship level & had a league one promotion with us. Both Pinnock & Mawson barely kicked a ball for us at championship level & had a league one promotion with us. How can either get in ahead of Roberts? For me if you’ve only played with us for half a season you have to be outstanding like McBurnie & Vaz Te were. You can’t be getting in if you’re just good like Barnes & Drinkwater were for us. Davies Trippier Foster Roberts Yiadom Hammill Hourihane Mowatt Vaz Te McBurnie Winnall Honourable mentions to Steele, Hassell, Mawson, Pinnock, Scowen, Watkins, O’Grady & Woodrow.
Steele Yiadom Shackell Roberts Hassell Hourihane Scowen Hammill Vaz Te Winnall Woodrow Special mentions for Jimbo O'Brien, Craig Davies, Marlon Harewood, Jason Jason, Jay Mac, Fozzie and John Stones We've had many good loan players be they weren't ours so I've not included them.
Sensible post agree with playing players out of position, but for me barnes was just as important player for us in the 1st half of that season as mcburnie was the 2nd. At one point barnes was involved in every goal we scored, either assisting or scoring himself if it wasnt for him we would have been relegated faster.
Fair point, but it was my personal favourite side. He got my arse off my seat everytime he got on the ball, so did Vaz Te. It’s 10 years worth of football there’s bound to be people that don’t pop into your head until the next time you discuss it. Also another that has just come to me is Paddy McCourt, now he was a player that excited me whenever he got the ball too.
I'm not including loan players:- 1.Luke Steele 2.John Stones 3.Andy Yiadom 4.Alex Mowatt 5.Marc Roberts 6.Ethan Pinnock 7.Adam Hammill 8.Conor Hourihane 9.Sam Winnall 10.Cauley Woodrow 11.Ricardo Vaz Te
