Iran is an Islamist Theocracy that oppresses most of the population in the country. It is the mouthpiece of Shia Islam which is the cause of its anitpathy to Saudi Arabia who are Sunni. It has sponsored instability, aggression and terror attacks in order to destabilise Western interests in the Gulf. It hates Israel. Trump decided to assassinate one of the perpetrators of this terrorism - I'm not crying for Solameini I think Trump may leave it at this - Iran has wasted a few million dollars of its expensive weaponry on a symbolic attack - we don't know yet if anyone was killed. Damage can be repaired. I think he will hold off, unless Iran ramps up the violence. It's all about oil of course.

Next we'll see some pond life like Alastair Campbell pop up with some dodgy doctored dossier.

There were news reports with the Trump saying they have lined up 52 targets in Iran and the stealth bombers are already loaded up on standby.

The US will not let Iran fire the last shot so I expect something to happen.

Didn't he live in Barnsley for a while, at the bottom of Park Grove. Apparently it was whilst living there he wrote "The Road to Wigan Pier".

I'm going to try & make a rational comment on this thread.

If he had been taken out on an operation that was attacking US service personnel, US civilians, or even allies of the USA, there would have been clear grounds to take him out.

Iran is part of the UN & otherwise, if there was evidence he should have been called to face a charge.

This is an extra judicial killing, contravening international law.

Was he a "bad guy", probably, yes, by the sounds.

Terrorism is terrorism & Trump has lowered the bar, just like Bush did in Iraq. As soon as you do this there is no moral high ground.

I'm just hoping this doesn't blow up, but the blue touchpaper has been lit for what?

Trump's re-election campaign? This play well to his born again Christian fascist backing at home?

The majority on board the flight were Iranian. Not sure what people are suggesting if they don't believe it was technical issues.

I'm not saying that it's definitely been shot down but one thing is for certain, they absolutely don't know that the cause was technical issues and any claim that they do is a definite lie from them.

The plane was on the normal flight plan when suddenly it burst into flames, lost altitude and stopped transmitting its location all at the same time. It then made a sudden turn whilst rapidly descending until it suffered an inflight breakup at extremely low altitude (which explains the large debris field) and there was then a much larger explosion when it hit the floor presumably igniting all the remaining fuel in one horrifically spectacular fireball.

If I was taking a guess I'd say an accidental anti aircraft strike by Iran which hit the plane in a not immediately catastrophic 'scatter gun' or machine guns style which took out the comms and lit an engine on fire

My friend told me yesterday that they have been briefed by both UK and US officials about the goings on with Iran and are now prepared and ready for combat. He's based in Bahrain with the royal navy, and we have another destroyer on its way to the gulf.

I'm so proud of our servicemen and women, but so disappointed in our governments. The world does not need another war, ever. Tensions with Iran, Russia, North Korea, Palestine etc etc. It's ******* scary, the devastation will be greater than anything we've ever seen.

I have been thinking more about my mortality as I've got older. I even look both ways crossing the road now.

Hence the famous punchline "I know Jane Mansfield died in a car crash, but it was my plane that her!"

    @George Kerr
Apparently Orwell stayed for 12 days in the town. His diaries on Barnsley are an interesting read: https://theroadtowiganpier.wordpress.com/tag/barnsley/
Lots on the pits, Barnsley public baths, disgust at newspapers on the floor (bizarre), lots of talk of Mosley (for fans of Peaky Blinders) and a comment on the locally-used word 'spink' which he believes may be a small bird (@Young Nudger and others may know if this word is still in circulation - bird-watching etc not my strong point). Also mentions a communist meeting in the Market Place: 'the usual crowd of men of all ages gaping with entirely expressionless faces'..

Tbh we are always ready for a 5hit storm, that is standard military briefings in events like this, they would never say " we are not prepared" as the saying in the army goes " Train hard, fight easy"

It is and is unfortunately so true. The banks owned by a select few and the resulting scary foreign policy aligned to them should be publicized but never is.....wonder why? If you call it out you're either branded a conspiracy theorist, nutter or antisemite.
Check out Genie Oil and why Israel have seized illegally giant areas of land in Syria. Have a look at the board of directors. Dick Cheney and his mates are in for a few bob.

I’ve noticed he mentions Agnes Terrace, It’s not showing on google maps, I’m guessing obviously it was off Agnes Road
