Figured I'd start one to match the NFL thread. Who's your team? I've followed the Canucks for the last 10 years or so, ever since I went over there working in my early 20s and was lucky enough to go in an executive suite for a game. Was a fantastic experience. Not been the best time on-ice though following them. On a good run right now though, the goalie, Markstrom is making some insane saves.
I have a look at the scores every morning during the NHL season, but I don't really have a favourite team. I just want the Finnish players to do well, wherever they play. I suppose that I've got a soft spot for the Canadian teams too - if I remember correctly, Montreal Canadiens were the last Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup, and that was nearly 30 years ago!
Calgary Flames are my team. Always been in Calgary during the summer months so never actually seen the Flames but I've been in the Saddledome for gigs.
Always been a Nucks fan. We went over in 2007 and was fortunate enough to see two shutout wins against Backhawks and Ducks. Fabulous atmosphere and the chant "Pronger Sucks" will stay with me forever! Also saw the Vancouver Giants win a championship a couple of years earlier, which was also a great experience. Although bizarrely my favorite Hockey game in Canada was attending the Toronto St Micheal's Majors in 2005. They didn't get many Brits watching them so they made a huge fuss over us and especially my Son who had only just had his 1st birthday. Missing Canada and really need to go back soon!
Yes we as a family been avid hockey followers hence my name tag. Lad played for Sheffield and Bradford juniors. Watched Russia beat Finland last year ( sorry Tomi). Still have friends in the game here and across the pond. Penguins are my team but watched more Leafs than Penguins. Also Toronto Marlies a couple of months ago.
