The Owls travel to Barnsley on Saturday 8 February (1.30pm) in the Sky Bet Championship and ticket details are as follows: Wednesday have received the full allocation of 4,177 for this all ticket fixture!!!!! This is now 2000 below capacity, must be costing us thousands of pounds!!!! Surely 5000 should be allowed in the stand, Hudds got 4400 but it looked like 5000 with pay on the day!
We are embarrassing. Our newest stand built to be split and it's only going to be sixty odd percent full, whilst half of another stand is out of use too. All to kick off at a time nobody ever kicks off at on a Saturday.
So we arent allowed to sell one third of the available seats does anything similar happen in grounds outside south Yorkshire because something is very wrong - why 300 less than for Huddersfield I genuinely dont understand I also cant get my head around the fact we cant sell Aisle Seats - never heard of that in any other entertainment venue
Actually 108 more than last time...... https://www.swfc.co.uk/news/2018/january/barnsley-tickets-sold-out/ Probably a little dig at us that they chose to use a photo of them filling the north stand to tell people tickets are on sale....... https://www.swfc.co.uk/news/2018/january/ticket-details-barnsley-v-owls/ Clubs can have a line of stewards between fans or less such as at Huddersfield in October and we can't do similar.
A few points: 1) Why do we care? The less Owls supporting their team the better, right? 2) It's about the risk assessment. There is an issue with evacuation times in that stand due to design. Presumably, we've looked at cost vs reward of fixing that issue. It's difficult for a CEO to go against the advice of his safety advisory board considering the consequences if something went wrong are so high. 3) "It looked like 5K" - I'd be surprised if they let more in than they allocated. See point 2!
Fans will suffer. We limit how many they can bring and they might start lowering the limit of what we can bring like what's happened in the Old Firm with away allocations cut to under a thousand.
Well they only allowed us 2,500 earlier in the season. No more tickets were made available after we sold what we did. So I would agree 100% it should be like the old firm and only give them what they gave us.
If the £36 has anything to do with the reduced capacity of the away end, then that's my reason to care. I haven't been to a Wednesday or Leeds game since they started charging those sort of silly prices.
Got to question the original design of the stand then haven't we? Did somebody drop a bollock or have requirements changed since it was built?
I dont really care other than its costing the club money - for Wednesday they could sell all 6000 so allowing for concessions its probably costing something like 50K in lost revenue.- less extra stewarding costs of course If its evacuation times that seems strange - its our newest stand so either someone messed up massively in the design or we arent opening all the exits. or we need to check it again - to say only 2/3rds of the fans can get out in time just looks wrong when I compare with some other places I have been and is it solvable it we want it to be - for one or 2 games a season I can seen its not such a priority but should Miracles happen and we get back in the premiership would we be able to split the stand - like we couldnt when we had Chelsea in the cup a few years ago and had to give them the whole stand even though we could have sold more "home" tickets
Isnt it a supply and demand thing. Give them less tickets to make them sell out quicker then up the allocation another 500 once its sold out to get them to buy them b4 they miss out. Good business sence really....
When it was first built, we quite often had sell-outs of it. Man City at home for example. Evacuation times must have been tweaked. I also believe there was a query over the experience of our stewards - saying they weren’t as experienced as others. I can see why they leave the first few rows unsold and in the corner near the East Stand - makes sense. However I can’t see why Weds don’t get 4,400 like Hudds did? Regardless of the club, seats are seats.
I really don't buy the evacuation bit, look at all the other away ends you go in that are small, tight and packed, they don't undersell these by 30% I like to see the ground full, better atmosphere and more money in the bank! No way did Hudds only have 4400 in the ground, it's easy to tell it was closer to 5K!
