That's the worst thing about 'bookies' - they're happy when you're losing, but as soon as you show any signs of knowing what you're doing they don't like it.
Surely what we should be asking... is how come this is the biggest company?!? In front of the likes of Apple, Amazon, eBay, Samsung, etc....
There are strict regulations on what product placement is allowed and what can be advertised during the commercial break when a TV show is aimed at children. Football is regularly scheduled before the watershed. Many under 18s watch it. The content of the show and the adverts in the breaks are awash with gambling companies. Betting is being advertised to kids. Directly and targeted, indoctrination from an early age. This is the unacceptable side of it.
Inveterate gamblers are weak people who believe their next bet is the big win that will solve all the problems caused by their gambling. They are incapable of taking responsibility for their irresponsible actions.
The Premier League is 'in hock' to Sky. Sky is 'in hock' to the betting companies. All three are devoid of social responsibility or morality. Gambling should be banned from TV advertising and sports sponsorship, just like tobacco was banned from motor racing years ago.
Addiction is addiction no matter what the thing is that they are addicted to. In all cases unscrupulous people will use the weakness to makes profit by it. The public need to be protected from these people.
Highlighting the issues of drug addicts and alcoholics does not assuage the problems caused by gambling. Your sarcastic comments that intimate me being faultless are puerile and very far from the mark as I know only too well my own shortcomings.
I've never understood why people play casino games or slot machines, where it's statistically impossible to make a longer term profit. Sports betting is a different matter, especially horseracing.
Online gambling, more specifically in play betting contributes to the rubbish atmosphere at oakwell over recent seasons. The amount of supporters glued to their mobile phone during the game checking status of their bets when they could be and should be singing, encouraging and getting behind the team is ridiculous
I can't say I've ever seen this at Oakwell or any other stadium. Nor do I have a problem with it, if it does happen.
Oh its rife. All blokes that sit round me are constantly going on about their bets and checking scores during match, then moaning when results aren't going their way. Its not new tho been going on for years.....
If as a club we didn't stop putting latest scores on the scoreboard every ten minutes or so, people wouldn't have to look at their phone to see what's happening elsewhere.
