If by the end of tomorrow our forgotten players Thiam, Pinillos and Cavare are still with us, do you think they will be brought back into the first team picture or left out in the cold, losing what little value they might have had. If there is no intention of playing them then surely they will be released.

This is where the plan falls down. The squad is so large that players can just be left out and forgotten whilst still getting paid.

We might not be spending big, but we’re paying lots of wages and still letting our better players leave for a relatively small amounts. We sold Potts last season to balance the books, yet lesser players wages are part of the reason we were out of pocket.

Thiam cost 900k and Cavare 1.25 million, So not cheap by Barnsley standards. Pinollos the usual 200-300k bracket

Looks as though we're lumbered with them until the summer.

Pompey looking at Cavare on loan though.

The cynical part of me thinks the failure to move those three on this window gives the owners excuse-ammunition in the season's post-mortem.
"We would have signed Messi on a short deal but Cavare, Pinnilos and Thiam refused to assist us by moving on. Blame them"

Would be stupid not to utilise them if they are still at the club in my opinion

If there comes a point at which we're relegated with several games left, then by all means get all of our deadwood into the shop window. Until then, even if we can't sell them in January, the forgotten should remain forgotten.

All signed while we were a championship club so all on good wages & won’t move unless they’re getting a deal that matches their current one or one long enough that a drop in weekly wage is worthwhile.

Stupid that we’ve wasted a place on the bench on Mottley-Henry, Palmer etc when we could’ve had Cavare or Thiam on as impact players
