To put all the revenue increase there would be and any income from Player sales into the squad. I make that total around 10 million give or take a million. So in my opinion that was either a lie or they've managed to waste £10 million on the worst recruitment since Jesus recruited Judas. Not sure which is worst of the two if they lied or were responsible for the crass incompetence of the recruitment.

I have always maintained there was a shortfall of income against expenditure.

They haven’t lied, i think the money has been spent with too much reliance on statistics and big data and without having the football experience at the highest level to call BS on the strategy or on individual players. We’ve recruited badly because we’ve largely based it on stats or recommendations of people without the experience of what it takes to be successful at this level. I don’t believe there is any more to it than that. The owners should also be more transparent because they forget what each and every fan has invested in this club and see it as only a business transaction. To a certain extent, Patrick used to communicate. We are sadly lacking that and that is another part of the problem. We used to recruit experience on a loan basis where we could not afford it permanently. This is another major flaw in the current plan. Its only about the potential now and this doesn’t work at this level. The learning curve is too steep. We dropped a bollock this window and my understanding is that it wasn’t for the want of trying.

I also think if they aren’t going to invest further in the club, and it seems pretty clear they aren’t, then buying potential is the way to go but the model needs to be tweaked and so does the way they run things.

This board expertise is in banking, finance, leisure and hospitality. They should concentrate on that.
They haven't a Scooby as to how to properly run a football club. Might benefit the Club if they appointed a Director of Football with experience in the English game. Too much emphasis has been put on a slavish devotion to the spreadsheet/database and it's patently obvious that at this time, it's not working for us.

In other words, they're incompetent. Good summary though, particularly on the communication issue.

    They're liars.

Listen to every soundbite. It contradicts the last one.

    Pure lies.

They’ve definitely invested the money back in to the squad, in my opinion. So to your original point it’s the latter that has been the problem. Too rigid on the strategy, refusing to budge on Championship experience, but also reducing what felt like an U25 squad last season in to an U23 squad this.

The whole sequence of events transfer wise has been a strange one. The annoying thing for me, is that I don’t think this squad of players are all that bad and two proper professionals in the Summer in the spine of the team would have made such a difference. Which means we weren’t a million miles away, and blew it.

My gut feeling is that if we'd waited until January to sell Pinnock then we'd have been fine. At the time I thought that selling Moore was a bad move as well, but I'm not so sure about that now.

Moore was sold 3 days before the last window shut, I'm still waiting for the investment!

Selling moore was still a terrible desicion and has contributed to the position were now in, i cant see how we have benefitted whatsoever from the money received. Yesterday was crying out for a change up front, brown and chaplin again not finding the net but absolutely nothing on the bench. The lack of quality up front will cost us just as much as the defence in the long run.

Totally agree. We have no strength in depth in the forward line at all. A couple of injuries and we'd be playing the U18s...

It's a shame they think wasting transfer fees and wages on a bloated squad is better than a trimmed squad of better quality for our budget.

I refuse to believe outgoing expenditure matches incoming, no one will convince me otherwise !
Loosely related to this Josh Scowen allegedly left because we didn’t match his wage demands, so if we’re paying Thiam, Schmidt, Williams etc more in transfer fees, signing on fees and what they earn per week then it’s ********

But Schmidt was identified a long time before that we were told?
