Been trying to sell the club from almost day one. He gambled and borrowed £9 million on basis of getting back into Championship after failing has been struggling to repay. Terms of that loan say if he misses a payment FPP (lenders) get the club.
The only worry is how much interest there’d be to buy us. We haven’t got a big stadium and fan base that makes us a prospect to reach the Prem like Sunderland have. Took Cryne years to find a buyer before. Don’t get me wrong I’d love these people to sell up but it’s not that simple.
No I agree that a buyer, any buyer is likely to be hard to find. But we don't know that until the club is up for sale. Plus putting a vote of no confidence via the BFCST is a more structured approach.
Blimey...sunderland have new owners like every other year. I went to blackpool last weekend (to watch the kaiser chiefs) but got talking to a blacky fan, who enlightened me about their struggle to get shut of the oystons.....i must say i was impressed. They had it tough and had to go 5 steps back to take one forward....but they did it. Im not saying our lot are anyway near the seasiders previous owners but fan power....well it can work. Id just like our board to more honest and explicit with their intentions and 100% more flexible in their approach.
We dont know cos its not for sale. If it was on the open market with a reasonable price tag then we could see for ourselves what interest there is.
Like it was under Cryne for all those years? Maybe it would be different now, who knows, but it was clearly a struggle to sell last time
Our owners have stated they won't put their own money in after buying the club. Why then couldn't anybody run the club? If Chien isn't putting his own money in then why can't I also not put my own money in?
The trouble is Cryne was trying to sell for years and wasn’t short of interest by any means, but was not prepared to sell up to just anyone because he cared for the club and its future. Our current owners may not be be so selective when it comes to selling us and we could very easily end up far worse than we are now. See the post about Sunderland’s current owner. I just hope that Cryne had the foresight to tie up the selling on of the club so they can’t just sell to the first “ Jack the Lad” who comes along.
I can't see how he can have done that tbh. The one good thing is there's no ground for them to take finance out on. Ok so we need for these owners to somehow realise that we need a mix of experience and youngsters to make a profit on in order for them to make more money.
Risdale, Hicks an Gillet, Oystons, Glazers, Football, love it or hate it, these people will always want MORE. GREEDY FOOOOOKERS.
Yep.. get a loan to buy the club. Then sit back and sell your best player or two every year to pay your dues and have couple of quid left over ... Easy peasy .. I'm in
Agreed. These people are arrogant beyond belief but they are not stupid. They have been here two years and we are more or less in the same place as we were then. The squad is more or less the same. Some will argue its weaker and some stronger. We can only hope that they do not repeat the same mistakes again in future.
