After reading and hearing about the "triallist" being Tommy Smith I would think if true he could be a great signing.Almost 400 games a great proportion in the Championship what's not to like. 3 months I believe since his last game is no big deal some players are out longer with injuries.I'm sure as a pro and possibly looking for a move back to England he'll have kept himself fit indeed he played 90 minutes on Friday. We can't keep going back to the Summer transfer market it's been done to death mistakes were made and the team as paid for it.We can't change the past but we can alter the future.A player of Smiths experience could be invaluable to us going forward whether we stop up or hopefully not go down to league one.At 29 he's got another 5/6 years left in the game and you can guarantee if we don't sign him someone else will. If he'd have signed on deadline day people's perceptions would have been different in my opinion.
Bags of championship experience, had the positive mindset to play abroad and still only in his 20s. He only played his last game a couple of months ago and would improve our back four.
Jimmy boy and his recruitment team have tried their hardest but there are no employed footballers on earth that can improve our defence so the spreadsheet has now turned to unemployed males 6 months of searching and we get to this. Absolutely shambolic
The club seem to be giving the fans what they want with a defender that has played a lot of games at this level, and is still the right side of thirty, yet folk still find fault to pick. Surely this is the kind of player we’ve been crying out for? We’re not going to sign the likes of Pontus Jansson, Nathan Baker, etc..
If we rate him, why wasn`t he on trial earlier with a view to signing him or is it we are just bringing anybody in cos January has gone. P.S dont know if he is any good or not.
He was plagued by injury problems the last couple of seasons at Ipswich and moved to Colorado two years ago. They didn't exercise the option to give him another contract and it ran out 3 months ago. https://www.coloradorapids.com/post...apids-announce-roster-moves-ahead-2020-season
He’s exactly the kind of player we should look for. He may not work out whatsoever but of the free agents out there he is the one name that seems to meet our criteria. Unless he’s woefully unfit or looks absolutely shocking, a five month deal can’t hurt anyone
No one knows yet but Stuber seemed to be very strong on the point that he wouldn't sign a player for the sake of it.With Smith playing abroad there could've been a multitude of reasons why he wasn't signed earlier if indeed he was one of the original targets.Time will tell.
That probably explains why he's only on trial because based on background you'd think he wouldn't need one to get a club.
