So here’s a conspiracy theory for you:
    Owners want to buy ground
    Council day no.
Owners run club down to ‘prove’ they need the ground to plough the money in to develop both the area, ground and the team.
    Council agree to sell
    Owners aim achieved(owning ground).

Then what would the owners do? What could they do with Oakwell that would be more profitable than selling it on as a football club? The only other use it could have would be as housing and there's tons of cheap land in and around Barnsley that can be used for housing. But housing near Barnsley town centre isn't worth that much so who'd buy it for housing? It's not like it's worth as much as Stamford Bridge. And if instead they decided to sell the club on you've already said they've run it down therefore lowering its value. Or they could reinvest but that would cut into their profits when they eventually sell.

    Conspiracy theories, eh.

The Council will say no, until it's in the best interests of the town. End of.

    Think youve missed the point,
Could it be they run the club down deliberately to convince the Council to sell.
I don’t know, I’m just asking has anyone considered this.
From there who knows what there plan is.

Personally I don’t think it’s a land grab to sell the land but could be something like incorporating the Football ground with Casinos, Hotels, all round Leisure/sporting complex, all of these if done properly and successfully would make the area worth much more than current.
Bear in mind as well all of the above is Chiens area of expertise.

Equally it could be there just really bad at running a football club

I believe they have already tried to get approval for a hotel and casino as part of the acquisition but it was knocked back. Which is why Mr Lee has not been around for a bit as he has the face on over it
