Looking at the step up our coach and our Austrian players have had to make to play in this league, I wonder what would be the result if we played Wolfsberger? What’s the real standard of the Austrian premier league?
Barring the Red Bull side, I’d say it’s league one at the very best. I honestly think the Austrians that he’s brought with him are worse than what we already had, and what we have is extremely poor.
We would get hammered if we played Wolfsburg. They are the German Bundesliga club. Struber came from Wolfsberger from the Austrian Bundesliga.
I can only judge with their results against Roma and Monchengladbach as I'm more familiar with those leagues and l think were probably miles off them.
Feel like a stuck record but. Again. People haven’t looked at his CV properly. He got sacked from his first proper job where he lost 6 out of his last 8 games. He then took over at the start of this season when the previous manager moved on. He’s never built a team. Doesn’t know how to deal or charge a team that’s struggling. Again another poor decision by the board.
He nearly got us out of the bottom 3 after a good December no idea who else we interviewed but I think he still has to be given time to develop the club and is trying to work in a tough set of conditions..
You could say same about Stendel prior to coming here too, never built a side, neither did Wilson come to that.
Sure a league table somewhere of European leagues had the Austrian top flight below our own league two. They were both twenty odd in the list.
I'm not getting the same vibe from him tbh, but tbf dealing with a struggling relegation placed side isnt the easiest. At some point we have to stick with a manager, maybe it should be him.
Looked for this found a few historical that rank the Austrian league around 15th. Not sure how measured though as everyone has it above Championship which I find hard to believe. This one has them 16 th one below Scottish and Championship 23rd, which I can’t believe. https://www.kickalgor.com/football-...ues-global-rating-2019-20-opening-2020-table/
I'm certain he'd have stayed if he'd been backed. Not forever but long enough to take us as far as he felt we could go.
