The stand we were in today was split but both sets of fans used the same turnstiles and there was no segregation behind the stand. As far as I know there was no trouble. Seems like the Met have a bit of s different view on policing to SYP Can’t remember the last time there was so little separation at a football match
And I’d bet Fulham have the lowest number of crowd trouble incidents. I do believe that in a lot of incidents trouble starts once police, stewards and segregation get involved. last week for example, nothing but discussions on how the game went between fans from the west stand all the way to the bus station. Only then when the police split the fans did I see scuffles and coins getting thrown. That was my experience anyway.
Yup. The first time I attended Craven Cottage was back in January 1981. We were stood on their open terrace behind the goal and won the game 3-2 on a Friday night. After the match, we all exited the ground and into the street at the actual cottage. We were straight amongst their fans, yet there was no trouble. All I heard was them saying what a brilliant team we had and that we'd win promotion, which we did.
Best fans in division for me. Had a few jars in Weathers mixing with the fans. Zero issues. Burton and Accies fans were absolutely cracking last season. Brentford fans were quality also.
In those days I weighed a mere 10st. I'm still the same weight nowadays. Sorry, I meant to say I'm the same height.
The one that springs to mind for me is the Newcastle FA Cup tie in the Prem Season, when the away fans were in 3 separate parts of the ground. I was in the bit behind the dugouts and we shared the concourse with home fans. Easily the weirdest away day configuration of my time watching the Reds.
The pitch was something of a quagmire that night. Our players, Ronnie Glavin & Ian Banks in particular, just seemed to skip over the surface.
I was showing my daughter the youtube video of that night earlier and she commented on the state of the pitch
I was living in London at the time and took two mates along with me to watch the game. After our keeper was injured early in the game Glynn Riley went between the sticks and we decided attack was the best way to defend him. To this day one of the best games I've ever watched.
I remember the night well. I was at a Christmas do at Newbury Racecourse. Didn't we have a man sent off or was our keeper injured with Riley going in goal?
