I agree entirely. It's a difficult one for the reasons outlined. It doesn't change the fact though that they are very badly paid for what they do.
I could be wrong on this but if I am, I’m not far off. There was a post on here showing 2 headlines from the express. One decried Corbyn for suggesting a £9.70 minimum and one praising Johnson for a £10.00 minimum.
I’m sure it was Labour who said a tenner, I may be wrong of course as the internet is apparently littered with untruths about poor Jeremy. Particularly his associations with the ira.
I'm starting to think some of these newspapers are not entirely unbiased. What a scandal this will be.
Not when those people you are excluding make up a big proportion of the resources. Also, people make the assumption that if you exclude the unskilled the skilled will still want to come. But why would they want to emigrate to a country which is looking to reduce immigration and where society is generally trending towards becoming increasingly nationalistic and xenophobic?
Only ‘unreasonable’ if you can’t afford it. the number of care home companies that are on the verge of collapse or have collapsed suggests it’s an industry on its knees.
You couldnt make it up could you - how did we get the media we have in this country and how much of it is under British control Oh and thought for the day for Priti Patel
It's this term 'economically inactive' that worries me. We already have some of the worst provision for State Retirement Pensions compared to other countries that are our competitors and it's a fact that if, as the Tories have stated numerous times in the past, you want to drive down the welfare budget then once you've stripped the low hanging fruit the bulk of the pickings are to come from stripping benefits from the retired.
The idea that the economically inactive will fill these posts is a smokescreen and typical of the kind of misinformation we should now expect from this government. We all know what economically inactive means and those people aren’t expected to need employment any time soon. The government know that the economy is going to tank due to Brexit, as many ardent Brexiteers have been honest about that over the last few years. it ought to be obvious that those in industries worst affected will be expected to work in the jobs currently attracting overseas workers. So steelworkers and car assemblers will be expected to pick fruit or get no benefit.
Both leaders mentioned around £10:00 per hour minimum wage.. it was on the mainstream news about both. One got negative cover whilst the other got positive cover. No prizes for guessing which leader got the negative cover.
It scares the Sh*t out of me Dont forget livestock farmers - they will be ideal as their farms will no longer be viable Of course the problem is a redundant steel worker in Birmingham with a family and mortgage isnt ideal for picking strawberries in Cornwall I also cant believe we have no provision for young dynamic people to come here - the number of posts I have seen on twitter of Europeans who came here quite young and started work in restaurants who now have great careers and contribute to the economy is quite surprising. I guess foreign students also wont be able to work to earn extra money either which will really encourage them to come here
Don’t get what the issue is ? They’re reporting that One bloke in America thinks its a good idea, and that when Corbyn suggested it it was roundly criticized. Whats to like ?
