Reminds me of the joke dating back to those days, when I was working at Harwell. Don't buy Russian underpants because Chernobyl fall out. Sorry!
Haven't seen it, but remembering the incident I always thought the crew who sealed it should have had international recognition...a few George Crosses would not have been undeserved.
Brilliant docudrama.. Watched a Chernobyl documentary on bbc about covering the plant to make it safe. I’d definitely recommend a watch, especially after watching the series. It puts a lot of the issues into a stark reality. Inside Chernobyl's Mega Tomb: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08650s6 via @bbciplayer
There has been a documentary about how they made the hangar type roof that goes over the site. I think it's called Incredible Engineering. Incredibly this roof was made in sections and rolled into place on tracks as a complete unit. Expected to last only one hundred years. I can't get my head around all this nuclear stuff, even listening to the drama series is a mind defeating lesson.
