I'd booked a 2 week skiing trip to Austria for the first 2 weeks in April, including flights, trains and a season ski pass purchased in January on the understanding that it would still be valid in April. A cost totalling hundreds of pounds. If I can claim anything on my insurance, I will, but the real losers are the owners and staff of the many bars, mountain huts and restaurants where I would have spent money. They've all been laid off as everything is shut. My wasted costs are nothing compared to their losses.

The problem with your analogies though is you aren’t taking into account the totally unprecedented circumstances. The clubs are acting to a worldwide pandemic and trying to help reduce the spread with the interests of both their fans and staff in mind. I don’t know if the loss will be covered in this type of exception and they still have to pay staff though not the police.
In any case as many have said there are other priorities.

I’m no lawyer but I would imagine it depends on the terms of the agreement. Aka whether the wording is that the ticket is for ‘23 home league games’ or ‘all league home games of the season’

So, when we buy our season tickets, you don't want them to spend any of that money on transfers until after we've played the games for which that money is allocated. Therefore, no summer signings and only spend half of it in the January transfer window. When the season ends we can spend the other half.

I don't want my money back. I don't like our owners but none of this is their fault. The budget should not account for the club giving money back. It should expect all fixtures to be completed. To plan otherwise is entirely impractical.

The flip side to that coin is that as custodians of our club they must ensure that all bills are paid and we remain viable, using their own savings if necessary, until fixtures begin again and money starts coming back into the club.

It's no good blaming us for the virus crisis. Don't make analogies or make us feel guilty for wanting what some of us think is our due.
If you bought a box of 100 toilet rolls and then found out there were only 90 you'd react. How, that'd be up to you. I'd either ask for my money back which they'd be obliged to do or I'd chalk f.uck on it. Then the suppliers have won especially if they were doing it to everybody.
We are looking at a multi million pound business with football. Don't imagine that footballers on vast wages will miss out on your or my 50 quid refund. Those premier league players in the heart of Cheshire will stay at home and enjoy more time in their swimming pools. In the meantime you or I will battle through with our meagre finances worrying about the next meal or whatever.
I'm self employed and I don't know right now where my next order will come from. I probably wont be able to claim financial help. The self employed are way down on the list, if they are on it at all.
Yes it becomes a personal thing but if the season were to end today I'd look for a refund and why not. All those who say no can do as they please but dont criticise us for wanting the opposite.
The club won't go bust, I might.

Nice post with a lot of sense in it, but could you point me in the direction of the club statement were it says season ticket holders will not get a refund if the season ended ?

It doesn't. But this one of those hypothetical threads, based on a "what if?" scenario.
    See thread title.

I know mate, hence my earlier post in the thread. Folk are getting their knickers in a twist and blaming the board for something that hasnt happened or even been suggested.

There are many things we can all have a go at the board for, but having a pop at them over a hypothetical situation is just silly.

No, it's all a "what if" scenario.
I guess if one club somewhere decides to refund supporters the rest will have to follow. One can only imagine this thread on, say, Chelsea's, Man U's, Arsenal's etc forums, all those supporters wondering if they'll get refunds having forked out thousands for their season tickets. Our fifty quid becomes so insignificant against theirs, but that was their misfortune if you like.

Im not disagreeing with this or your previous post, i am simply suggesting that to start taking pops at the board over something that as yet hasnt happened is simply bonkers. You see that dont you ?

Thats an understatement and a half :D

Personally i dont think every club in the football league will make the same decision. While clubs higher up the pyramid will be able to afford to give refunds those at the other end of the scale could quite possibly be tipped over the edge.
My own opinion for what its worth is that a lot of clubs, us included, will offer discounted season tickets for the next season to try and entice those who were considering not renewing to change their minds

Someone did say that those wanting the matches that are not played to be refunded are greedy and selfish.
