If it’s closed, it is because a number of staff members have symptoms of the virus. Therefore are unable to ensure the safety of your child.
I reckon this will happen more until schools are closed... There are 3 secondary schools inDonny which have closed to certain years.
I'd be very surprised if schools open up again after Easter (if they're not shut down before). My wife works in a primary school, 250 kids. Quite aside from the kids and the staff, that's an awful lot of parents, grandparents and carers coming together twice a day, every day, for dropping off and collecting.
Massive dilemma for most parents .For any that have the facility to work from home, I can envisage that some could well phone their kids school and inform that as a precaution they have decided to keep their kids away from school. With the internet and the ability to use email, if they had the resource, it would not be too difficult for their teacher to set them a piece of work to do at home appropriate to the curriculum.
Didn't read the Ecclesfield letter before submitting my post above. Makes eminent sense. Can see such action becoming widespread in the not too distant future, especially as the numbers affected with the virus starts to ramp up.
Shutting schools is only half of it. The second half is keeping the children at home when they start getting bored at home and can't wander about.
I recon most will spend more time talking to their mates on the computer/PlayStation than outside anyway, these days, given the choice
Got to keep schools open as long as possible IMO. Children out of schools will only make the pandemic worse.
Not beyond Easter I dont think. All the self isolating will.mean lack of staff. Year 11 obviously will.be the priority.
Yes, my son’s is one of them. Ridgewood on Barnsley Road in Scawsby. It is only open to years 11 and 13 for their exams - and to year 7. All of 8, 9, 10 and 12 are off until after the easter holidays now. He’s in year 7
It's mainly because of staff shortages due to them falling into the vulnerable category. https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/service...chools-and-learning/schools-currently-closed/
