Just had an email from a mate in Tenerife, and he asked me what I thought about proposed plans to end the season in a championship style showdown, with games televised, and played everyday in World Cup style camps.I have not heard anything, just wondered if anybody else had.Sounds interesting.

I haven’t tried to work it out, but my spider sense says the maths don’t work.
They’ll not be expected to play more than twice a week so 5 weeks or 7 w playoffs.

add to that... what a fantastic time to be sending thousands of people to live and work in close proximity. What could possibly go wrong?

They're still trying to work out how to automatically promote Derby without anyone noticing.

It’s funny watching the Premiere League wriggle and squirm with various weird ideas to finish. All down to getting the money in with talk of ‘ minimal’ risk anything but upset SKY

Am I the only one who doesn't give a toss about football in the current situation? People are losing their jobs, their businesses, their livelihoods and, in some cases, their loved ones. I don't think football counts at all, it doesn't even register on my scale.

    This. 100%

I saw the article about the PL scrabbling around trying to find a way of setting up isolation camps to finish the season. I thought it was April fools day. I think its obscene. Literally no-one should give a t0ss about football right now.

If they even propose it as an idea, I really hope the government step in and tell them to shove the idea up their arse.

But there were only 400 deaths yesterday, and we're talking here about whether Watford or Bournemouth survive.

I certainly agree with the sentiment but as was said a few times last week, this is a football (amongst many other things) forum so its right we still talk about it. No one thinks any less of the current situation by doing so I’d assume

You're right, football is so insignificant at the moment, it's barely worth thinking about currently.

    But...

When it does return, along with other sports, it will be a sign that we're (hopefully) over the worst, and will provide a significant boost to the country. This is one of the reasons why I'm so against the idea of voiding the season now. Play as soon as safe to do so. Even if it's behind closed doors. Then we can be talking about something other than illness and death.

I would argue if you have to play behind closed doors its still not safe to play

1500+ die every day in the UK. So we should permanently cancel all sport then?

As NYR posted; if it’s not safe enough for me to sit next to you in the stands, it’s not safe enough for players to train.
