My god i must be hearing things.Think its saggas show.He has just said why dont they just finish the season now.Probably get sack because every other pundit, radio host, player come out with the pathetic excuse of the integrity of the game we have to finish the season. As i said in an earlier post what about Barrow,Sth Shields etc.dont they deserve the same.Nobody knows when this will end but say for example we are up and running for july.Do you honestly think that all the players will want to finish this season, which could be september or later. Then start next season, prob 2 games every week. Then for top players the euros starts. So all these players in all these countries have no holidays for 2 yrs.Now i know you are all goin to say they have great lives and i agree but the point is the clubs will have to come to some deal with the tv companies over payments.Dont forget its not just England. And before anybody says its not importent with whats happening,i agree but this is when all said and done a football bulletin board

I don't listen to TalkSport very often but I do like Saggers and I agree with him on this. They will probably just issue an apology for his outrageous opinion and confirm that his view doesn't reflect the view of the station or football in general.

Not as outrageous as the guy they used to have on Mike Parry.! A right head the ball he was.
Saw him on the Jeremy Vine TV show on Channel 5. Still holds some weird views.

I think Mike is still on, at least he was last time I listened. You're right though, he really does have some insane views but I do wonder if it's all part of his radio persona. Durham is another one with some very contentious views but again I think it's just to liven his shows up.

Talksport must be utterly desperate at the minute, what with there being no sport to talk about.

I assume they can cram in even more Just-Eat and OnTheMarket adverts, now, though.

If you want a really good talk radio station then I thoroughly recommend LBC.

They just need topics to discuss.

This season has to finish, Liverpool’s the main talking point but realistically they’ve won the league anyway & will get their share of the champions league pot. It has to finish because of all the teams involved in the battle for Europe, promotion & relegation that will take it through the courts if they’re on the wrong side of the season finishing early.

You can have a shorter 20/21 season as it’s fair & every team would know beforehand but I can’t see how you can not finish this season.

Finish the league now & you’ve got every side in the relegation zone or narrowly outside European / promotion / play off places taking their respective league / football association to court.

Void the league now & you’ve got every side in league winning, European & promotion places taking their respective league / football association to court.

Many of the owners of these clubs are billionaires. They won’t be scared of an expensive court battle.

No court in the land would find on the side of the club if season was voided as the league would be able to demonstrate every member was treated the same, in normal circumstances clubs may have been able to demonstrate loss of revenue for a claim, but these aren’t normal circumstances and would be taken into account.

I can see a case for finish the league resulting in a court case as clubs could point to who they have played or not played. Bournemouth I think would have a cast iron case for this as an example.

I used to enjoy it but the frequency and length of ads just go too annoying.

No my recommendation is for LBC with afternoon slots from Shelagh Fogarty and Eddie Mair. Tom Swarbrick from ten o'clock at night is excellent. I've not listened to Talk Radio for many years.

If you like political and current affair debate then you won't regret it. It's on DAB but make sure you tune in to LBC and not LBC news.

    Agreed.

The FA has shut down the lower lower leagues so there must be a FORCE MAJEURE available to them for the higher league

Ive said before this is not about people anymore with the big boys - its all about MONEY MONEY MONEY

I don't disagree that Force Majeure could take effect - but would you really want it - other than to save Barnsley and prevent Leeds / Liverpool winning?

The prospect of not finishing a the minute does seem a difficult decision for the leagues. How do they treat clubs who could reasonably go bust just not to pay players wages Imagine the uproar if 30 clubs went bust. It's ok having "Football Debtors" for one club - but 30? Especially if they have to give the sky money back / Sky fail to make the payments

Would all 30 also start the seaons with a 15 point deficit?

Lets hope for the good of football it becomes safe to finish and we get the season finished even if it does mean we get relegated, Leeds get promoted and that set of cheating tw@ts from Anfield win the league - and yes - even if it makes the money men happy.

There might be something I've missed but I just can't stand the thought of Leeds fans moaning not just about how they were cheated out of the European cup but now on top of it having them moan about how they will have been cheated out of promotion to the premier league.

I dont disagree with anything you have said.

Yes Barnsley would be safe but that has nothing to do with my point of using the Force majeure.

I think ti is the only way to end a season with any legal facilities as a force majeure will be in somesort of rules, other than the league could run on for infininty (well not really infinity)

Force majeure does make it clean in terms of the competition - 2019 / 20 never existed - start again.

However the economic consequences of force majeure generate just as complex consequences for next season as claiming force majeure solves for this.

I reckon wage bills are that big that many clubs would cancel all players contracts claiming force majeure. How could the league enforce "football creditors" rules when the league itself has claimed force majeure?

What if 30 clubs go bust for convenience and don't pay their football creditors - what does a league look like with a third to a half the teams starting on -15 points.

Whilst money is playing a part - this is a very complex situation and I guess the powers that be are just hoping they can rattle a few games off to finish the season.
