Sorry TT, but a fish cake is flaked fish between 2 slices of potato and battered and a scallop is a slice of potato covered in batter: well it was in my village chippy and surrounding chippys.

Is a 3 match ban for Brad Potts appropriate in this case?

I worked in Sheffield and to sort this out I took a breadcake, a teacake and a currant teacake all the same diameter to get their reaction. The currant teacake was a teacake and the breadcake was a breadcake to them. They were baffled by the teacake and said they didn't have them in Sheffield.

Are you from Sheffield :d? A teacake is a currant teacake without currants. The texture is different to a breadcake. It has a darker brown smooth upper surface. Dont know if they put sugar in it our what. A breadcake is lighter brown and is the same. colour top and bottom. Anybody work at bakery? They might explain the formula.

Dont know about the colour ..Isn't that simply the difference between steam baked and traditional oven baked?

You.might be right, I'm no baker but.maybe teacskes are steam baked in Barnsley and breadcake oven baked whereas Sheffield has a steam baked breadcake as well as an oven baked breadcake. Had this debate for donkeys years in work and no one came ip with a definitive answer

I would expect prices to go up a bit as it is harder to get the supply.

Right let's get it straight. Lesson of the day to out of tarners
    1. Teacake. = Small breadcake
    2. Breadcake= large teacake
    3. Currant teacake = teacake wi currants in
    4. Fruited teacake = teacake wi currants or raisins or sultanas
    5. Bap = Small round tennis ball size breadroll
    6. Fishcake= the same as you can buy in the supermarket ( what's not to understand). Fish, tatie. parsley all mashed up in a breadcrumb casing.
7 Patty = Fish between 2 slices of tatie in batter.
    8. Scallop = Slice of tatie in batter or a scallop in a shell.
    9. Rissole = Mincemeat or fish in pastry or breadcrumbs. Not to be confused with number 6.
PS A ginnel is a Snicket not a ginnel
Laikin has several connotations. Not just being ont sick.
    Tea is Tia
    I could go on
