Thanks all for the suggestions. It's quite a melancholy sight at sunset. Unfortunately the taggers have spattered it with their worthless scrawlings.

It's most definitely a Canberra and from the outline looks like a B2 , T4 or such. Definitely not a T17 which Underwood flew when he was on 360 Sqn RAF Wyton in the mid 80's.

I was there and sure the "quick succession" was an almost simultaneous take off given how wide the runway was. I remember the ground actually shaking where we were stood and I was only 15 at the time and not a deaf old fart like I am now. The decibel reading actually reached the pain threshold and I had to stuff my fingers in my ears. Pretty awe-inspiring stuff with those delta wings which made them look far bigger than they actually were. I am sure we were far closer to the 'action' than H&S would allow nowadays and since the various air display accidents since then, low level passes over the crowd are banned.

The Lightnings used to scare me when they displayed at Finningley. You never heard them coming then BANG !!!

Brilliant aircraft, the Americans used them right up until recently. One of the only aircraft they’ve purchased from a foreign country.
