RIP John. Long before my time but anyone involved in beating Huddersfield 5-0 and being involved in every goal is a fine man in my book.

RIP John. Although I never saw him play, my late mum used to work with his wife.

McCann is one of my first memories of Oakwell and Barnsley Football Club. My dad would take me along with him to the odd game, and I would be sat upon one of the concrete shelters that decorated the Terrace touchline. I did not know what was going on, of course, but McCann was the closest player to my position atop my shelter, and I remember being impressed by the power of the two closest players, McCann and the opposition full back. It is sad to register his passing.

Typically, who might have been the other players in John McCann's team? (Like you don't have to recognise the players in the photo)

Sad to hear this news. Johnnie McCann was the first player I tried to copy when I was a kid, playing with the other urchins on Worsborough Dale Rec. He had a shuffling style as he cut in from the wing, which I copied. It fooled the little lads, but the big lads soon sorted it out. News like this hurts, as it makes you realise how old you are
