https://fanbanter.co.uk/the-future-of-the-2019-20-league-two-season-now-revealed/ Although bizarrely they still want to hold play offs a weighted PPG method to decide league places with promotion and relegation still happening league 1 couldn’t decide so meeting on Monday great leadership from the EFL as usual!!
Surely the whole EFL has to do the same thing. League Two can't decide weighted PPG + promotion/relegation and then League One something different.
We're down then. They will obviously use the same method in League 1 after some gentle persuasion and then follow that into the Championship.
Looking increasingly likely, harsh to relegate teams who still had a chance to stay up but let's be honest we were doomed anyway. Feel abit for charlton if it happens.
I don’t understand this notion of voting anyway. Since the advent of the play offs, there are only ever a handful of teams with nothing to play for. Anyone placed 12th or above will undoubtedly want the season to continue. The ruling should be directed downwards from the governing body not by letting a larger number of clubs with a vested interest ‘vote’ on the matter.
Only saving grace is under the current climate players will be afraid to turn down new deals at their clubs for fear of being without money. We might see Mowatt at Barnsley next season even if he doesn't necessarily want to extend his current deal.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52679614 If they are using points per game how is the table not finalised? If they do the same for the championship I suggest they use the table after the first match of the season.
"It has also been proposed that nobody will be relegated from League Two to the National League - meaning Stevenage, who are set to remain bottom of the table, would remain in the EFL." Only way i suppose all clubs will agree!!
I’ve just read this “Messy situation right now. Clubs voted 20-4 in favour of no relegation, meaning Stevenage stay in the EFL and Barrow could take Bury's place - subject to approval. Further points deductions could also be handed to Macclesfield Town, meaning they could replace Stevenage at the bottom of the table. Can't see the National League being happy with the EFL alternative” 24 clubs in league 2 can’t decide what goes though surely? “Here lads, shall we just say finish it now with no relegation but we still want promotion to league 1?”..... “Yeah seems fair”.... “motion passed” that’s the biggest load of horseshit I’ve I’ve ever seen if they get away with that.
Isn't the Mowatt extension in teh clubs favour meaning that he can't turn it down( although I appreciate that it doesn't stop us signing him to it and then selling him.)
No relegations only way round it, playoffs behind closed doors. Complete season, Prem finish theirs somehow. FL off the hook, prem give us our money!? Oh and the Reds are staying up!!
Saying that the teams have enough games on the table to make an accurate judgement on promoting but not enough to do so on relegation us barmy imo.
You would hope that if the same rule is eventually applied to our league that the powers that be, come down heavy on the cheats who have breached FFP, with a hefty points deduction. Minus fifteen points would put both Derby and Wednesday in the bottom three. Having said that, something tells me they won't have the bottle to do it somehow.
