I don’t get it. We’re making a right fcukk up of this.

Countries who enforced stricter sanctions like Spain and Italy are p1ssing on our numbers. Spain have had one death, Italy 60.

We are still piling on with deaths of 300 and 400 a day

We are heading towards a 2nd wave. Went to shop earlier, groups of kids roaming the streets and you can just feel people are letting their guard down.

Because so many aren't abiding with the current rules.

It’s horrendous how it’s all been handled isn’t it? To say the almost 38,000 deaths came initially from a few people bringing it in and we have around 2,000 new positive tests a day (whilst testing hardly anyone), I dread to think what’s going to happen. Whichever way we go now it’s going to have horrible consequences, release lockdown and we’ll have tens of thousands more die of Covid, keep or retighten lockdown and have mass unemployment.

Perhaps they've been listening to people?
Plenty on here and elsewhere have been championing a reduction in restrictions for quite a while. They must be pretty pleased with themselves right now.
Perhaps the 3 of us in our house who have had covid can rest easy now :)

I do wonder if the government are going for a reset, let numbers get up again quickly so people start taking it seriously again as everyone is getting complacent and then lockdown properly like they should have at the start.

    Probably because of Cummings.

"He didn't do it so why should I"

So instead of answering that question, it's easier just to say **** it, let's relax the rules.

Seems a very backward way of doing things.

The Chief Scientific Adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance said today that the true figure is "54,000 new virus infections in the community every week", which is almost 8,000 per day.

    A) Most importantly, he is doing this and allowing thousands to die to take headlines away from Cummings.

    B) He is still chasing eugenics Cummings’ proposal of herd immunity.

    C) These people don’t give a f*ck if you, me, our families, or even the tories that give them unwavering support die as long as they aren’t being asked difficult questions.

The fact that there is not more anger in this country when thousands are needlessly dying when other countries successfully shut this down without even a fraction of the fatalities is shocking. This is a game to them. A PR exercise. Why do you think football is back so soon. As Orwell said in 1984:

Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer, and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult…. All that was required of them was a primitive patriotism which could be appealed to whenever it was necessary to make them accept longer working hours or shorter rations. And when they become discontented, as they sometimes did, their discontentment led nowhere, because being without general ideas, they could only focus it on petty specific grievances.

In the past, I would read Orwell's books before bed, and thank the stars that life hadn't turn out like that.
I now wake up, blinking, looking into a world I once read about, and scream with rage.

I keep ticking off the passages

Think we are getting quite close to this one next

“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth. ‘Who controls the past’ ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.'”

It’s why we can’t just move on but have to keep fighting to keep truth in the public domain

    If not now then when?

People seem to be confidently saying that we’re heading for a second wave, based on absolutely no scientific evidence at all?

Spain started releasing restrictions on 12th April, yet have continued to reduce the numbers of deaths to the very low levels you quote. Surely the fact Spain have a low number of deaths evidences that lifting restrictions is the right decision, because it hasn’t led to a second spike.

And people all over this thread, begging for the state to exert total control over the population and lock them up forever in fear of some mythical second spike, despite that having happened precisely nowhere else where restrictions are being released are the biggest enablers to this Orwellian nightmare of state control.

What’s this relaxation that I keep reading about anyway? Schools to reopen? Yeah, only they’re not, are they, I don’t know of one school that’s obeying the request to open to reception, year 1 and year 6. People being allowed to meet outdoors while observing social distancing then? That’s what people are angry about? Really?

Lol Spain didn’t take the sanctions off on 12th April you nutter. That was the date that they intended to but it was weeks after. 2 of our very close friends live in the centre of Barcelona and it was many weeks after that.

Spain actually started this like us, in complete ignorance but they went into complete lockdown with heavy fines, we haven’t and we are unlocking from a worse position than they have.

    Get ready.

I’m all for opening up, but we should have locked down sooner, more clearly and with far bigger sanctions. By now we could have been through a huge amount of pain and 20k less deaths, if we would have acted sooner and been more clear and severe for anyone going outside the rules.

We fcukked up royally. We aren’t even close to allowing dickheads to meet up in the park.
