If that's the case then fair enough. Much rather this than a PPG scenario which would see us relegated. Null and void would be nice but the authorities seem determined to complete the season. Let's hope playing behind closed doors works to our advantage. What is it, 9 games left? 16 points needed to hit the 50 point mark so 5 wins and a draw!
It could possibly work to our advantage as the empty grounds will be less intimidating to our less experienced squad plus the lack of atmosphere could too as some of the bigger name players may find it more difficult to motivate themself
Form book will be out of the window on restart, we may win 1 or 2 more than usual or flatline completely.
At least it would be in our hands rather than a computer thingy algorithm type made up guesswork program which would cause endless arguments on here if we ended up being relegated because of it. We've proved all season that we're relegation material, so lets get relegation done! But as it's Barnsley....you just never know
I like the "if". If I remember my theoretical computing correctly, there are a countably infinite number of computable functions out of an uncountably infinite number of functions (yes, some things are more infinite than others). Barnsley probably stay up in 3 of them.
I think how fit and how prepared players are after lockdown will be crucial. And of course those clubs who had minor injuries beforehand will have the advantage of having them back playing.
Don't forget the theory of improbability, which is what powered the "Heart of Gold" in Douglas Adam's Hitch Hikers Guides. The more improbable and outrageous a scenario was, the more chances were that it would actually happen It could work for us!
I think we're more in Hingefreel territory: "Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws. The Hingefreel people of Arkintoofle Minor did try to build spaceships that were powered by bad news but they didn't work particularly well and were so extremely unwelcome whenever they arrived anywhere that there wasn't really any point in being there." ― Douglas Adams
I'm wondering if the club, as part of the money we've already paid for season passes but can't use, will make ifollow free to view for the remaining games
Bottom of the table at Christmas, promoted in May. There must already be an improbability drive somewhere at Oakwell. It just needs digging out of the cupboard and dusting down.
If we stay up it will be a bigger achievement than the Flicker season and the number 1 great escape in our history.
